New here, and appreciate you all! Nearing the end of my journey in purchasing my first tesla. A used, 2016 90D all options. Suspension, High Fidelity, Sub Zero, Hepa etc. From my 2 month search I think this is a great value at 53K + 4 yr warranty. VIN 5YJSA1E2XGF147914.

1) Any things I should watch out for? I will be looking to add tint due to Houston UV. Plan to drive for a bit first though.
2) My MVPA has a link in my account but the document doesn't open, says 'fail to load'.
3) Insurance and all is ready to go, I am waiting to find out where this vehicle is located as I am crossing my fingers I can avoid transfer fee but understand this isn't likely.
4) While I want the car right away I realize this could be weeks away with the 'CPO' delivery timelines I have read on the forum.

Thank you all for your feedback!

when i ordered mine, the very first email after clicking the "contact me" button had the car location in it.

also, i was expecting a long wait after all the stories but my car was moved from chicago to san diego and in my hands in 2 weeks from deposit.

2 weeks for a USED car you bought to be delivered isn't a long wait? Man, Tesla really is changing the way car sales is done. ROFL

Yes, I had read that elsewhere and looked for it on this one but no luck. Hoping my window for delivery is within 2 weeks as well!

Great car! I was looking at that one too! You beat me to it. Be sure to say how it turns out.

whatever man.. you read these forums and think its going to be a month on average or something.. two weeks from deposit to keys in my hand is plenty fast to get financing and shop around for insurance sorted out.
It was sarcasm. Calm down Francis.

Based on personal experience (three times in the last year) and the experience of close friends and several on this forum I'd still put the average at 1-month. This means that some even too more than a month, hence the term "average" applied. If someone (like you) ends up with a car in half of the time I'd say that's an exception and not the rule until I see this repeated numerous times to indicate that Tesla has made this program more efficient.

If someone reads posts and estimates a month then they're expectations are set properly for what will likely be the reality. Less time will be a bonus and if it takes slightly longer at least they were in the ballpark which is the most important part given how much Tesla used car delivery differs from the used car delivery process most are accustomed to.

I'm at the same step. You can get the location from your assigned sales rep as soon as he contacts you.

The MVPA will be provided by your delivery specialist and I think that will happen only once the car is shipped to your location. My account shows the same MVPA link with no info. You will have to provide what part are you financing (if financing) so they have the correct info in the MVPA.

I've also heard stories of long delivery times but for now I'm optimistic. I've placed my order about a week ago and the sales rep says it'll take a total of 2-3 weeks to get it here. Mine will go from Seattle to Dallas.

Good luck. Let us know how it works out :)

Great to hear! My delivery specialist was out sick, so the contact I had assigned me to a new one. I was told that the car was being secured this past Sunday 24-Nov for delivery but awaiting update if it is on a truck and/or progress. I did receive the MVPA so that I hope is a good sign I am only a week or two at most away from final delivery!

I got similar info last week that mine would be picked up by transport on Sunday the 24th. Maybe it's the same truck :) Then on Monday I was told the truck had been delayed and did not pick it up yet but they would on Monday. Radio silence since then. I have no idea if it was indeed picked up for shipping.

Speaking of MVPA, did you finalize the payment after receiving it? From what I understood, for Texas they're not allowed to ship the cars (not allowed to cross state lines) until the payment is cleared. This took a few days for my bank to send them the financed part and me to ACH the downpayment. Only after this, I was told it's getting shipped.

Interesting, I would have to imagine same truck for delivery. I however, was not told about the payment before crossing state lines. Junior questions as I normally pay full cash for cars, first time I have financed a portion but I had asked the timing of payments. Once I tell the bank to do the finance part what happens if I ACH the other half and then at delivery find there is extreme damage to the vehicle? I am sure this won't be the case, but seems uneasy for me to pay everything up front prior to delivery.

@cucubits - you mentioned you are in Dallas TX. Did you order a Model S and if so, are you going to add tint to yours? I am just starting research on this and have some time until Summer comes but want to get this done sooner than later given the Texas heat. Any tips you have picked up I'd be interested to hear.

Yes, it's an S and yes, I must find a good place to get it tinted. I will let you know as soon as I decide on one place.

As you said, there's no rush, I'll probably do this closer to the summer... first I'd just like to see the car already o_O

Edit: maybe more important than tinting, I need to decide on what dashcam setup I'll go with. I've been using Thinkware FA200 front/back for my wife's car and it's been working fine even in the summer heat but their software is garbage.

@cucubits - just received an email that my car has been delivered to the Houston service center. Essentially went from no updates after ordering on Nov 10th to arrival from Seattle today. Fine with me as they are still within the standard month window I was expecting, certainly wish there was a bit more forward communication, however I know all this will be forgotten as soon as I start driving my (new to me) model S :). Hoping your vehicle is also in the Dallas area at this point as well!

My apologies for the late response but I needed to confirm a few things with the delivery center. Your Model S has arrived at the Houston. I was not able to confirm pick up and give you the updates that I had hoped to, because of an issue with the GPS. I could not accurately GPS your vehicle. I believe the GPS system needs to be reset.
I am going to reach out to the Houston Delivery Center so they can begin an inspection on your vehicle.
I will confirm with them on Friday so we know when we can put you on the schedule.

Yes, they definitely need to improve on the whole process. I got an update today too, mine is en route (currently around San Diego area) with an ETA to Dallas on Sunday (Dec 1st). Most likely pickup will be a few days after that.

Hey there! We are a Tesla shop in the Houston area and could definitely install the tint for you!
