I tried the parking lights for the first time when parking on the side of a dark, winding, wooded road at night. I wanted to avoid getting hit by someone. Unfortunately, they went off as soon as I got out to leave. Sucks.
I called Tesla today, and they gave me a trick: get out of the vehicle, then reach in thru the driver door to activate the parking lights (Controls > Lighting) without touching the driver‘s seat cushion. This keeps the parking lights on after the driver door is closed and the vehicle locked. It does work.
