Tesla owners, Have any of you found a cheaper place to purchase a model Y key fob? I don't like paying $150 at Tesla if I don't have to.

I'm not aware of one. Given that it isnt cheap, can you say why you need/want one? It might be that there are alternatives to getting a fob.

Unless someone is selling a used one, Tesla is the only supplier. Price a Porsche or BMW fob - they are comparable.

My wife doesn't like using the Key card so this fob would do better for her and she doesn't use a cell phone.

It's actually not bad compared to getting new keys e.g. for a Volvo or BMW.

Unfortunately I have to agree that $150 is cheap these days. A 3rd-party-programmed replacement for my Audi was $250, and the dealer wanted $400. Just get it from Tesla and enjoy convenience. It’s a small price to pay for the privilege of not carrying a cell phone!

$150 is relatively inexpensive for a modern smart proximity key fob. Try to get one from others for that price, even for non luxury brands.

So true...but then when you're looking for something to complain about Homelink and key fobs are likely targets.

She doesn't use a cell phone? That IS unusual these days and age. I have to agree that using the Key Card on a daily basis is not optimal. I wouldn't want to do that either. I don't see any option for you except to bite the bullet and cough up $150+tax. I got one because it is one cool looking key fob. It's easier to open the hatch and frunk with the key fob.

Spouse has a FOB and loves it. Keeps it in her purse so she won't forget it. Why not use a cell phone? She has a flip phone for use in emergencies only. I'm trying to get her out of the 20th century with little luck... Otherwise she's a keeper.
