Lack of transparency with Delivery ppl

I unfortunately want to add to the growing list of frustrated voices. I have never had so much trouble trying to give a company a bunch of money. It has been a total clown show every step of the way. This is coming from someone who is really proud of Tesla and have always been a strong advocate of them. The weeks long saga if issues and twists/turns is too long and frustrating to recount here, but the most recent slap in the face was me having to call and find out why no one showed up while I was sitting here waiting for delivery.

I had called in the morning and confirmed the delivery that was going to happen just a few hours later. I was told all was good.

I frantically get a window to break away from the madness and go to the delivery site (I am a healthcare worker and about to not have a car). I got to the drop off location on time. Waited and waited and nothing... Two hours go by and not a word or anything from anybody. I open my Tesla account and happen to notice the appointment date/time had dropped off. I called them and got a "ooohhhh yeaaaa, guess what??? Your car needed to go into service so we can't deliver it. Looks like we need to find you a different car."

Look I get it. It is a new model and it is crazy right now. Trust me I know, my face hurts from having grooves cut into it from being in and out of masks/respirators all day. I am just asking for the bare minimum of courtesy here.

This is probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced with a car company. I have had my VIN and delivery date assigned in Burbank for last week. I literally had to pull teeth just to speak with someone and each one gave me a different response and also said "our local delivery team will contact you". Never happened. Delivery date gets posposted to 3/28 and no one calls to let me know, I just happened see the change on my account.

Now apparently because of COVID, they are doing home deliveries, I called to see whats going on and I got 2 different answers, pretty much saying its up in the air and they will call me to update, but of course that didn't happen. Im getting annoyed because I paid the downpayment before my first delivery date and then it gets postponed without my knowledge, causing me to miss a day of work.

anyone else experience this struggle?

Wow this is probably the worst it can get, and feel ur struggle, I’m a PA working in ER, myself, luckily it’s really slow they are cutting our hours but who knows what’s gonna happen in a few weeks. Sorry that happened to you. I would be pissed, idk what’s going on with these MYs, I hope they are stable enough to enjoy

I confirmed with the Nevada delivery specialist a few weeks ago mentioning that I will bring in a bank loan cashier's check plus my own personal check for pickup in Rocklin, CA. 3 days ago I got a call and confirmed that I will be picking up my Tesla at Rocklin this Saturday.

Today at 6:30pm I get a text from Rocklin Delivery Center telling me that my Tesla will be delivered to my house and I need to make final ACH payments......WTF but I want to use the cashiers check + personal check like I confirmed weeks ago (and even last week through confirmation text).......what to do?

I believe you are allowed to use up to two checks to pay for the car. I would strongly advise against sending them money before you have inspected/accepted the car.

But if I got the email saying that they are delivering it to my house, can I still give them the checks then? Also the email said "Also in your MyTesla Account, complete a ACH payment; we will need the final payment made prior to delivery."

UPDATE-

so.....

Tesla called me today to tell me instead of next week delivery, they actually found a MY at another dealership and ready to ship today or tomorrow. They had me go online and pay the remainder of my balance (negative equity from trade in) then I noticed a totally different VIN but oddly the same mileage on odometer (15mi).. They also made me sign and review contract, now my account says "prepare for delivery"..

few hours later they call me again to tell me delivery is for tomorrow 2-4pm. It was 5pm, so understandable... but this time I have a good feeling its actually going to be tomorrow. I have a feeling they want to push it before this quarter ends. Fingers crossed, I don't have any high hopes but ill keep you guys posted.

Yes you don't have to give them a single penny until the car is in-front of you and you have had a chance to inspect it and are ready to accept delivery. Checks do not need to be cashiers checks, don't have to be in your name, and can be from two separate banks. This is what I was told. Mine was house/touch-less delivery too. You can apparently also quickly log in and do the ACH payment through your tesla account right in-front of the delivery person too. This is what I did (though I had two checks ready just in case).

The mileage is not accurate. It has to be listed on the title but they just put a number that is higher than your actual. BTW, good luck! I'm still waiting for an actual delivery date. I might get mine Monday or Tuesday but not holding my breath.

I GOT IT! Super happy! The car looks great, there are some QC issues but nothing major, I’ll be reporting them and getting it sorted out but otherwise the finish is decent.

Road noise is a thing, but I’ll get over it. I feel like a window is cracked open.

garage door opener? Jesus... someone help me because I didn’t know it was an extra add on called HomeLink for $300... pretty upset that a car with this much technology doesn’t include it standard. This is the model y performance, it’s not a base model.

I recall, many years ago watching the today show. The president of Volvo was asked about Lexus.. He scoffed and said something like yes a Toyota.. I also recall hearing that Mercedes thought it was a privilege to buy their cars, until Lexus took a big far portion of their sales.
It's not a privilege to buy a Tesla and if someone else starts making great EV, they will learn that customer service matters, especially in a premium product.
I still want my MY, but not if the seats don't work, aren't aligned, the paint has issues etc. Get a clue Elon, we're not your poor employees!
