How old is the car? There is a motor that fails, but not sure if symptoms match.

Long thread if this is the problem. Mine failed quite a while back.

Rear trunk won't open

My rear trunk suddenly stopped opening. UI indicates it's open but it's definitely fully closed. All methods to open it electronically (key fob, touch screen, and trunk button) result in 2 beeps but no latch release or movement. The emergency release cable has no give (I.e. Doesn't move at all...

Leave it open! Potentially much more expensive to fix if it gets stuck shut. Put a towel or something over the latch to ensure it stays open until you take it in for service.

The cinch actuator is usually the problem. It's about $300 to fix.
