Little left to choose from - Q3 profitability goal met?

So many cars seem to have been pulled from the inventory sites.Tesla.com is no longer showing an inventory recommendation available immediately when building your own. I wonder if they met their Q3 goal.

I can't decide what to do. Finally test drive a Tesla and the 75D is no slouch. Prefer the 90D for the extra kick. When I priced a build out, the site showed me an inventory P95D for a few grand more. Then poof! No longer available a few hours later. Now, no 90D's at all and a handful of 75/75D's. OA didn't really have much to offer as far as inventory either. Maybe I missed the bus.

Yeah, but if they are local to you they should offer them for sale... I never got the impression that they only wanted to sell a certain number of cars.
Perhaps going to a showroom a tesla person could share what is available locally....?

I don't think that's the reason, they still have to sell cars.
I firmly believe their inventory was sold out, thanks to the huge discounts.

They didn't sell out the 560 new cars they had in new inventory 3 days ago. They are just not accessible to us through the website. Talk to your local OA. They can still get you a deal by Friday if you can find a local car you like.

There have never been many 90Ds available. They go fast.

I believe Tesla sold off a big chunk of their inventory too. When I was in the Portland Service Center a few weeks ago one of the people there told me they used to have 20 loaners, but they were down to 10 because the sales people were selling them off. And this was before the big discounts started showing up.

Tesla was awash with inventory back in June because the first round of leases were all coming back. I was at the SC in early June and there were used Teslas tucked into every corner, as well as a lot of brand new ones. The delivery specialist said most were lease returns.

I think there has been a push on this year to sell off as much inventory as possible. The FUDs like Bob Lutz like to point to Tesla's inventory and say they are in trouble because they are building a lot more cars than they sell. Tesla needs some inventory for test drives and showroom cars, plus they are taking in cars in trade every day. Of course they are going to have some inventory and that will grow as the company grows (more showrooms, more cars needed for those showrooms).

The push is on to make Tesla's bottom line look as good as possible for the end of quarter because they need to raise money to finish the M3. The better things look at the end of Q3, the more the stock price will rise and the less stock they have to sell to raise what they need.

I've been saying for some time if Tesla lowered their prices by just $10K they would see a big sales spike. It looks like they tried it with their inventory cars and it worked.

Seems really odd... not only is inventory non-existent on the website, but pre-owned too.
Despite the discounts, these are still expensive cars. I have a hard time believing they sold all of them that quickly (though that would be awesome for their Q3 and year-end goals!).

I suspect they want to avoid logistical issues this late in the quarter. I'm going to try and stop by a showroom later today to find out.

My OA suggested a few cars outside my local area that were within driving distance but none of those fit the bill. I am close enough to fly to Fremont for a pickup, but there wasn't any inventory.

It looks like I'll have plenty of time to decide on which model now that the Q3 event is winding down. Back to custom building!

I believe we heard some inventory calls were pulled because Tesla couldn't handle the demand. So we might see some deals pop again, but not at the same steals we saw to make profitability this quarter. At one point last week there were over 100 P90D but they disappeared a few hours later. None were steals.

It looks like demand is high for the P100D. Maybe they pulled those P90Ds to upgrade them and sell them as inventory P100Ds?

Since those are new cars, they could probably get away with putting the 90 packs in some non-P cars and sell them as 90Ds.

A few days ago I placed an online order for a custom 90D and two minutes afterwards I got a call on my cell phone from a salesman who convinced me to get a new inventory 90D with $11k more options for $1000 cheaper than my specified price of $94k. The "showroom discount" showed up as $12500 on the final spec sheet. I was initially searching on line new inventory in "any state" and only 1 P90D showed up and a whole bunch of 75Ds. Before the deal was finalized I did an experiment and I was able to get the web site to suggest the actual car that I bought by specing it out from the spec sheet, otherwise this car was originally hidden from view. I would suggest specing out the options for your car then start adding/changing features until it "suggests" a new inventory car that matches 100% to see hidden inventory. Although I cant seem to reproduce it now, when I spec out my car I get a suggestion for a 75D with the same options for $91k. In the end also got a $1k referral discount and saved about $7000 in NJ sales / luxury tax.

Tesla.com is back to suggesting inventory cars! I got tesla.com to suggest a P90D to me that isn't showing on the various inventory sites. Interesting.
