Yeah, if I did that to mine the hood would hit the body panel in front of it and it would feel like you were going to break something before you even got that far.
That's odd - both VIN 55 and VIN 76 work just fine.
I assume that is because they both have the original carbon fiber frame underneath the bonnet, as does my #33. Later cars have a plastic frame, as shown in the pictures upthread.
Hood prop works fine on #1194, too.
But not on #1195.

My hood prop on #425 does not work properly, I cannot position the sharp bend in the prop into the notch in the hood frame even when applying strong pressure on the hood (obviously don't want to force it). Hood frame is original to the car as far as I know. Here is a photo:Works on #635 not so on #436
