I was washing my car and the key was on the center console just forward of the cupholders. Somehow the lightly-latched cover popped open and the key slipped down inside. Any idea how to retrieve it?
There are YouTube videos that show how to disassemble the center console to route wiring, wrap, etc. so you could just find one of those and take it apart to retrieve?
Card key. I was outside and the center console popped open. Not the first time, I’ve come back to my car many of times and the console is open. I guess it just doesn’t hold closed well.

I have the abstract ocean flat black shell on it — which has been there almost since I owned the car. I honestly don’t recall if it opened spontaneously before I installed it.
Problems all solved. Mobile service replaced the center console — and I got my cardkey back. The tech said that there were several reports of it opening on its own and they tweaked the pop-up center console between the time I got my August 2020 car and the change to the sliding replacement.
