Loud Bang from Passenger Side!!

I was driving on the freeway and I heard a very loud bang, more like a firecracker going off, from the passenger side of the car. At first I wondered if something hit the outside of the car (it wasn't after I stopped and checked). It was so loud, sounded like it certainly came from the inside of the car.

Anyone had any similar experience? What could this be? I am wondering if it's maybe one of the batteries, which worries me about the car catching fire.

Just a guess but check the passenger seat belt. The pre-tensioner might use a charge of some kind and it may have gone off.

Drive it directly into an SC. This is a safety issue and they're obligated to look at it right away.

I'd say that door handle was stuck extended for some reason and made that loud noise when closing ........ has happened on my S a few times over the last year and happened a few times before I realized what it was.

The model X door handles do not extend or retract

My guess is a stone got thrown up and hit somewhere that didn't leave obvious damage... like a wheel well or underside of the car. I have had this happen from time to time on just about every car I've owned.
