Loud Static / White Noise From External Speaker when in DRIVE

Last week I noticed that when I put my MY in drive, I get loud static or white noise coming from the external speaker located near the right front wheel well. When I shift into reverse the "alien sound" takes over and I no longer hear the "loud static". To be 100% sure that the sound was generated by the external speaker, I removed the cable connected to the speaker and put my MY into drive, no more static sound. I reconnected the speaker wire, put my MY into drive and the noise returned. Anybody else experience this? Anybody know if this is a safety "feature" that Tesla has introduced to allow pedestrians hear our Tesla's in parking lots?

Garbage? I disagree. In certain settings, it serves as a pedestrian warning.

However, you're probably right that it isn't necessary. My 2021, VIN 88xxx MYLR A/C compressor makes enough subsonic noise is so loud any pedestrian could hear it.
