Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
I am trying to determine what the maximum tires size anyone can confirm so far on the MYP. I just swapped over to my winter setup, but will to replace the Pirelli’s come next spring. I am running 20mm spacer in the front and 25mm spacers in the rear.

I would like to run Vredestein Quatrac Pro’s.
Front:
275/40R21
Rear:
285/40R21

I believe I have seen some members post the rear size being okay, but I believe the front might be a little ambitious?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Solution
I run 265/40R21 on the front and would not suggest going any larger — thus I agree with your intuition that 275/40R21 is a bit “ambitious”. I can virtually guarantee significant rubbing should this size rubber be mounted on the MYP with stock Uberturbines.

With regard to the proposed size for the rear axle, you can confidently mount your proposed spec (285/40R21) without issue.

Good luck.
I have 3 sets of rims (19" CS Black, 20" CS Gunmetal ,21" UT) and I'm still undecided of what I'm going to do.
Currently my 2 right tires are shot from a pothole, so they need to be either replaced or I completely strip the wheels down and reuse the TPMS sensors and sell the remaining tires and rims.
Do mind that the rims are all slightly damaged because of the stredged tires and no sidewall to protect them.

As almost everyone is running 265/40/21 on the fronts. Is there still some clearance left for larger tires?
Would 275/45/20 work on the fronts as well?

Plan C

2 x € 297
and
Michelin Pilot Sport EV 295/40 R21 111Y XL, FR B B 74db
2 x € 342
or
Michelin Pilot Sport EV 285/35 R21 105Y XL, MFS, NF0 B B 75db
2 x € 434
I have never tried myself, nor have I paid much attention on whether anyone has attempted 275/45r20 on the front. From my current setup though I think it may be too tight.

265/40r21 on the front w/ 10mm spacer gives me a slight rub when steering wheel is completely turned in either direction. On the rear I was running 295/40r21 w/ 10mm spacer and would also get slight rub at high speed suspension flex, or at lower speeds with a load in the vehicle. I just burned through my rear set at 35k miles, and replaced with 295/35r21. The fronts went on at the same time, so they have 35k and still look almost new. I suspect I can get another 35k out of the front set.

Summer: Michelin Pilot Sport AS4
Winter: Vredstein Wintrac Pro

I run a square set of 255/40r20 for my winter setup. I honestly prefer the way the vehicle handles with this size wheel, and the vehicles acceleration is noticeably better with the smaller wheels/tires.

Wow that tire was abused. It looks like a Domestic Violence victim.

275 40 21 rear

Not too big, not too small
Minor range hit, if any

Where did we land for max tire size on MYP?

Front 285 40 21
Rear 315 40 21

Imagine any change from stock tires also have wheels realigned to ensure, beyond straight tracking, the tires are sitting flat to the surface.

Please correct where necessary
285 front?
does the front/rear listed here actually fit without rubbing? I know 315/30 wouldnt

Hi y’all, hope everyone is good. Been reading the treads in this place for years always got tips and tricks but never engaged. I really appreciate everyone here. And that this club is still up and running, hopefully for more years to come.
I’m looking to have more of a comfortable ride with tire size change and not break the bank.
So I recently placed 25mm spacers on both front and rear of stock wheels on my ‘22 MYP(just picked it up last week with 30k miles on it.) and I am loving the width of the new ride’s track but stiffness is something I’m still getting useto.
My wife has 25mm on here 20” induction wheels, we picked up a used ‘21 MYLR last june and she ran through her stock goodyears in 26k miles so we got the sumitomo HTR p03 in 255/45r20 and she loves the ride comfort.

I came from 2x 120k+ miles 2019 M3 SR+ with 25mm spacers and always got tires in sizes of stock and 245/45r18. I always went with more affordable tires from Sumitomo. Always got a good 35k+ miles out of them while driving Uber and Doordash. Falken ziex ze960 or Sumitomo htr p03 were my go to on an M3. It was really comfortable, grippy and zippy. Slightly less zippy on htr p03 when it was taller and wider.

But for this ride, I’m thinking about going with 275/35 front and 295/35 rear on these uberturbs once I run through these stock pilot sports tires in a couple of months and was wondering if the ride would absorb more shock and be anymore comfortable and also if the tires would hit the fender on turns in front.
I’ve also consider buying 19” the new aero wheels
I’m to open any suggestions to a larger sidewall aswell like a 40. Anyone have experince with 25mm spaces with a slightly larger tire on stock springs on Uberturbines? My go to tires aren’t available in uberturbine sizes, has anyone tried Falken Azenis FK460 on an MYP? My bad for any typos. Thanks for any info in advance

How much range did you loose? Spacing the wheels out further? If any? Looks good tho.

Thank you, sir. Around 5% I useto drive very spirited but since I have passengers a lot of the times I mostly coast and regen a lot during the durations of my drives. This 2 year old MYP max charge range is 275 I charge up to 80% 220 I driven it down to 20% with 55 miles left and clocking 158-163 of actual miles for the past week.
