I have to give top marks to the staff at the Disneyland hotel for their help in getting my S charged. In all honesty I arrived there on Monday having filled up at Senlis and not really needing a charge. But out of principle more than anything else I asked the parking valet if they had a charge point. He said that they did indeed but that it was ICE'd at that moment. He added that he found this very annoying and would arrange to make the charge point available in the evening.
I returned at 8pm or so to find that nothing had changed and expecting to receive a Gallic shrug. But quite the contrary. The valet said that he would do his best to help, even if that meant blocking in the ICE, and so we walked over to the charge point. It turned out to be a 16A 3kW Schuko, but yeah, that would do nicely overnight & the next day. So the guy asked how long my cable was. Since I travel with a 25m extension cable, we could have easily put my S on an unofficial spot, no need to block anyone in. But then the Valet saw that one of the ICE's was valet parked, so he disappeared off, picked up my S and moved the said ICE elsewhere.
We set about connecting up my S, with the extension cable as the UMC wouldn't fit in the charge point, only to find that the charge point was apparently dead. The guy ran off to get his mobile phone charger to test the charge point and confirmed, indeed, no juice. At this point my wife started getting stroppy about not wanting us to miss the evening 'spectacle', so I told the guy I had to run and many thanks for the help. However he said that he would persevere and sure enough a few minutes later my phone informed me that my S was charging.
Chatting to the valet staff next day, they said that there was increasing demand for charge points and that the hotel would have to do something about it. So I guess that in a small way we contributed to the message.
Although in pretty much every other way I hate Disneyland with a passion, at least the parking/charging aspect of it was tolerable. That said, Paris has been nuts the last days with Disney-esque queues for the main attractions. So perhaps its just tourism that I don't like...
