Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
I placed an order for my M3 LR in May and my delivery range was Aug 30 - Sep 5 when VIN was assigned Aug 24. Aug 25 I got a text to schedule my delivery date and the earliest was Sep 3 which I booked.

Does anyone have experience with their vehicle being ready earlier than the scheduled date? I haven’t been contacted by phone at all just the online scheduler. My wife and I’s anniversary is Sep 2nd so I’d love to have it for that

If you received a text from a delivery specialist to confirm final details, you can ask them if its possible. It may or may not be, depending on where the vehicle actually is, their workload, etc.

Public Service Announcement for folks taking delivery (AKA things I have learned):

1. Your car will show you are up to date on the software, or it should ;). From what I can gather from the software forum the software is a version from the factory. When we took delivery we didn't have all the fun and new features (blindspot camera changes, cloud profiles, Green Light Chime....etc). Ours took about 2 weeks and then the latest cropped up last week. And YES! the Green Light Chime happens but you have to be either the first car at the light or one back in limited testing with us. It is also accurate depending on your lane. SOOOO if you have a 4 lane stop and the right two stoplights turn green...our chime does not go off. BUT when the green arrow illuminates a slight pause happens and you get the chime!

2. BE SURE to set your HOME location for your car if you charge there. When we got ours we didn't set the home up for my wife and I. The way WE got it to function in the Tesla app was to take the car out and used the voice command "Navigate Home"....it did not have this as we did not set it so we spoke our address and then it was set (we also did this while using a both key cards and my wife's phone". There are some threads on this. If you don't set home you won't get your home info in the app for charging. You can set this up with your power company stuff. Not that tech savvy but this is how we made it work for us.

3. Spend some time in the car when you first get it if you have never owned a Tesla! I spent a Day/Night going over stuff and learned a ton! It helped get me more comfortable with the car....teaching my wife on the other hand is an entire different story LOL!

4. For those that aren't fans of the Aero covers, I got a super cheap lug nut/Tesla album kit for $20 bucks. My wife likes the look way better than the aero wheels so the slight drop in range is OK with her! If we were to go on a super long highway trip across multiple states we "might consider" putting the aero covers back on....you also can add this option in the Service menu to show what you have for wheels now. Inexpensive wheel cap kit from Amazon

Here are some shots of the car from this morning. We had PPF placed on the full front, headlights/foglights, mirrors, door edges, A Pillars, and the door handles. Tint was applied to ALL glass surfaces...Yes that includes the entire windshield, roof overhead, and full rear. Additionally the car shows the Plastidip I did last week to black out the emblems. Not a fan of the chrome stuff so for the $4.99 I paid for a can of plastidip a couple years ago and about 2 hours of time we like the results.....Let me know how you like it.

Pictures!

So I was just reading an article...and it says if I order after 1/1/2023 I get 7500 tax credit....So does my current M3 not get any tax credit? I may just delay my delivery.....

*edit* looks like this only applies to MRSR+....or sedans with MSRP below 55k :/

Currently no Tax credit and I’m pretty sure only standard range will qualify for the tax credit

Does the green light chime work on all Model 3s, or just the Model 3 with FSD or ESP software?

BTW the plastidip looks great on the emblems…and you have my dream garage - an M3LR and a 996

@phaheem

Not sure if it works on all unless they have been updated. I do NOT have FSD or EAP (ESP) whatsoever. It was included in the app that downloaded.

Dream garage NOT SO MUCH......Lots of work to be done but I can manage 4 cars in it when I do some 29 point turns...LOL and it is still a mess....let's just call id a work in progress! ;)

Yeah I have been using Plastidip for several years...it works but folks need to be patient with it. I have ZERO idea on how it "Knows" what is an emblem and what is car paint. It is crazy simple to do and I have been doing it for years and it just works!

Thanks for the compliments my 996TT is my track car and I love her. Not more than my wife, mind you, but there is a HUGE difference between the M3LR and the 996TT. VERY different vehicles with VERY different purposes. Thanks for noticing.....most folks dont know what one is :)
