Model 3 Motors on the Tesla Parts Catalog

SR(+) is a single motor config, so that's that but this is more of a likely no, the mare mortals without the private key to sign the software, than a simple no. There will be limitation coming from the peak current the SR battery pack can supply but other than that, likely the difference is mostly in the firmware encoded mapping tables for the drive output.

Also he already has the motor. No need to strap it on. Just missing the front, and the software, and the battery max current, as you say.

Any switching device need to handle greater than pack voltage, so > 400V minimum + derating. The P-TRAIN may just be shorthand for power train, and RMN re-manufactured. The 840 vs 630 may be peak currents: 840A * 350V = ~400hp, 630A*350V = ~300hp.

These all seem like reasonable assumptions. Definitely P-TRAIN is powertrain and RMN is standard shorthand for remanufactured, but for the currents, it doesn't quite align with the previous screen captures (now not listed in the part catalog - capture while you can!):

This was a 810A inverter...not 840A. But it is close. Seems more reasonable than it being a reference to a part number though. (With a drain-source max voltage way below what it would need to be.)

This is the front drive unit inverter (600A):

Anyway, it crossed my mind that my posts with this info were from BEFORE the 5% boost. So, it all aligns pretty well:

+3.7% 840 Rear -> used to be 810A Rear Inverter

+5% 630 Rear -> used to be 600 Rear (No screen capture record of this)

+5% 630 IGBT Front Inverter (see attached) -> Used to be 600A Front Inverter

Interesting thread, especially now with the talks of AWD > P3D- update.

Model 3 performance new 18 inch wheel option now avail 7/15/19

As you know, it appears from the above picture that the July 2019 P3D- in the US market is being built with the 1120980-00-F drive unit - same rear drive unit (with different F subversion) we've seen on all the other variants except a couple in Europe.

Time to update this (needs some cleanup of below to determine exact switchover points):
Rear Motor
Build Date 5/18: 1120980-00-C
***Changed from C to D sometime between 5/18-8/18***
Build Date 8/18-12/18: 1120980-00-D (blank label 9/18-10/18 followed by font change)
Build Date As early as 2/19- As late as 4/19 : 1120980-00-E ( To Sweden - I saw one example, we may have other pictures...)
Build Date As early as 4/19-?: 1120980-00-F (picture of a July example linked above)

Rear Inverter Plate
Build Date 5/18: P1085693-00-E
Build Date 5/18-9/18: P1085693-20-E
***Changed from 20-E to 30-E between 9/18-10/18***
Build Date 10/18-2/19(?): P1085693-30-E (end point indeterminate, Sweden delivery build date 2/19)
Build Date 4/19: P1085693-00-F (tentative pending a picture)

Norway (Europe) - Two examples:
Rear Motor
Build Date (? (AWD, VIN 224xxx)) - 1120990-00-B

Rear Inverter Plate
Build Date (? (AWD, VIN 224xxx)) - P1085693-30-E (E? - (???) - hard to see in the picture)

But since the P3D in Sweden is 980 and my AWD is 990, it seems that 980 is a higher rated one? Since 980 is spotted on both AWD and P cars.

My hopes of an Performance upgrade are getting lower by the day :(

Maybe, but I think the data way is too limited to draw that conclusion. We need more European P3D owners to report on their drive units!

BTW, build months are typically on the B pillar driver's side. Don't have this info for the Norway example.

I ordered my Blue/White LR AWD on a Thursday 5/23, and got the text it was at the Portland store and ready to be scheduled for delivery on Monday 5/27 (Memorial day). I was able to pick it up the next morning.

They didn't have any like I wanted in stock when I ordered. And the sales people had told me it was taking 4-6 weeks for orders to be delivered, even though the website said within 2 weeks at that time. I really wish they were offering the stealth P when I ordered. Those 20" wheels and their extra costs were the reason I ended up going with AWD instead. So I'm also one of the many hoping Tesla figures out how to upgrade post-delivery soon.

I just found this post yesterday after seeing the motor and inverter part numbers in another thread. I don't think that many owners have probably even known about looking for these numbers yet.

Interesting. The table above will need to be updated at some point once the picture becomes clear. You have reported the 3rd 1120990 drive unit (the first in the US market). Interestingly, yours appears to be 1120990-00-F (NOT 1120990-00-B like the Norway one - however, yours MAY be the most recently built one - it's close). All have been reported in AWD vehicles so far. We'll have to see whether that pattern holds.

Need more info from new P3D owners! P3D Stealth as well! Would be good to get information from May 2019 and onwards RWD (SR+/SR/LR RWD) owners as well.

It looks like there has likely been a change recently.

So far we know:

July 2019 P3D Stealth - 1120980-00-F Drive Unit US Market
May 2019 AWD - 1120990-00-F Drive Unit US Market

I decided to summarize a lot of the information into a table:

Motor Plate | Parts Description | Found In | Build Date + Links

Any switching device need to handle greater than pack voltage, so > 400V minimum + derating. The P-TRAIN may just be shorthand for power train, and RMN re-manufactured. The 840 vs 630 may be peak currents: 840A * 350V = ~400hp, 630A*350V = ~300hp.

It's actually 400V IMO, because the battery voltage is between 300-400 (400 being close to 100% SOC)
840A * 400V = 450 HP
630A * 400V = 337 HP

Attached is my part number:
USA
P3D+ 08/2018 Build
0741XX VIN

Thanks. I can’t remember, where did we get this name? I remember the LC but not the HC. Was that name in the part catalog at some point?

...

Hey everyone, we still want lots of pictures of rear motors from new owners - P3D+/Stealth and AWD in particular!

Country
Vehicle type (SR/SR+/LR RWD/AWD/P3D Stealth/P3D+)
Build Date
Approx VIN
Drive Unit plate picture.
