Model 3 Phone Charger

With the model 3 which has the charger built is, is there anyway to turn the charging off so it can be used as just a phone holder?

No. Why would you need to? If the phone doesn’t support it, it just doesn’t charge? It’s not going to get hotter or anything.

Is this a 2021 model? I have the late 2020 with the wireless charger. This is plugged in to the USB underneath in the same way a 3rd party one would be. You can unplug it if needs be.

2021 model the charger is integrated in to the car, underneath the console. You'd have to disassemble the console to disable it, so not a job you'd do ad hoc.

Ah, fair enough. Then I woudl agree with you. no need to unplug it. You can safely use it as a storage area for none mobiles without breaking anything. I have an old none wireless charging mobile on there to run scan my Tesla and have no problems with just leaving it there.

Yup, it will only get warm if it's charging - which involves the coils in both devices "agreeing to charge". A non-wireless charging phone will just sit there like it would on any surface.

Bit unconventional but you could put it face down. That ought to stop it charging but does obviously stop it being useful for Waze etc.

Or you could buy a phone case that inhibits wireless charging, keep it in the car so when you don't want to charge your phone pop it on

I couldn’t get my iPhone 8 to charge with the USB C port so I was disappointed. But then yesterday I noticed my phone was charging just sitting there under the console
