Model 3 SD/USB storage

Hi all, this might be a silly question…

I’ve had my model 3 from new since 2019. When I got the car I had to buy a micro SD card to save Dashcam and sentry footage. After 4 years , the card has now corrupted and I have a new one…
The question is , do I still need to format the micro sd card with a certain file name like I did 4 years ago or is this something taken care of with subsequent software updates?

Some micro SD cards are designed to be written to constantly too and some even use the same/similar memory technology that some SSD cards use - it’s just packaged differently.

Our (iirc) 64GB SanDisk Endurance card is still going strong nearly 5 years later although if I was to buy again I would probably buy the Max Endurance. Never found the need for anything larger, you just end up with even more stale sentry footage that periodically needs deleting.
