OK, morning, noon and night after the window. Daily before that. Ha. It does change things I think because they don't talk amongst themselves so things tend to sit in purgatory until someone goes to find it. If you're not financing or relying on anything from them then yes, it does not matter. Otherwise, gentle prodding makes them look up your stuff so you can get going on it in a timely manner. If they don't look, they don't tell you what you need to know until it's "oh look. This car has been sitting ready. Who's is it?"

Are you sure it helped?

Not wanting to go OT but trust me, service reps talk amongst each other and they know EXACTLY who the () is that constantly calls demanding answers.

:)

@kendallpb: I am York, PA so I could drive down 2 hours and pick it up but hoping for a smooth delivery. Did you get the paint armor? I did and that delays 72 hours for it to be put on at the Rockville, MD service center after the car arrives.

I did and I haven't been told of any delay. In some thread, someone mentioned that they'd worked out the kinks and were doing it at the factory again (shrug) but all I know is, no one's said anything to me about it not being there or about a delay. I'm crossing my fingers. I even e-mailed my DS earlier today to ask about what I read here--that they would redo the hood with a fuller treatment, at the SC, for a little extra. No response yet. Maybe that means the paint armor's not even on ;-) or maybe they're looking into it. I'll report back in . . . 41 hours??? OMG I'm glad I took tomorrow off. ;-)

our car, VIN 4605, showed up on a truck today to the local service center. there was no prior warning. i'm damn glad I sold the highlander and got out from under the sinking Leaf loan by converting to a Lease, all in the last 7 days, just in the nick of time. Bank of America was great to deal with, they got the approval and paperwork all hammered out in a few hours. Fast enough to get me a check coming for the Saturday delivery!

Since my explanation was likely moved to the snippiness folder due to another poster, I'll summarize. No I didn't really call that much. Yes, I believe calling helped since I've noticed the right hand doesn't talk to the left hand. When you see others with similar specs as yours and in proximity of your res #, place a polite call. I bet you money they'll see it's been sitting there a while. For those of us that needed a VIN for financing, the sooner you get it the better. I was scheduled to leave the country for several weeks so I needed to make sure I didn't fall through the cracks(wife would take delivery and we're minus a car early so yes, I didn't want any delays)

Oh jeez - keep me posted!

I agree that if you need the VIN for other purposes, like financing or insurance or the like, then yes, placing calls is probably in your best interest to not add additional delay to the process.

However, it appears there are many on this forum that somehow think that if they call incessantly, that their MS somehow magically jumps up the queue on the assembly line. 'Hey, this person just called. Can you guys stop the line, and push his car a spot further up in the queue? Thanks!'. That line, sayeth no one. And nobody has said this line either: 'Well, this person hasn't called about their car, so can you guys drive it to the back corner of the lot? Obviously they doesn't care about the car, so we're just gonna park it out of sight, out of mind.'

Anyway, you should have your car soon, and hopefully the timing works out well for you with your trip.

Wow, Toto. You have some amazing resources of patience. I've normally been pretty good on the wait (not 100%, but normally). I've tried to keep the people like you in mind, who had already been waiting for years before I even heard of the car, whenever I felt myself getting impatient.

LOL, congrats! Hey, they actually told you your due bill already? Interesting. My VIN's 4270 and they didn't say anything to me, but I'll find out tomorrow.

I second this. Awesome community here and while it feeds my obsession, it also saves my sanity. ;-)

Picking up VIN 4291 tomorrow morning at the Rockville, MD service center. No way I'll be able to sleep tonight... :)

Dude[tte]! I'm picking up tomorrow afternoon! :-D Visiting relatives kept me busy earlier today, but now . . . (watching clock) ;-)

I'm waiting on a 60 and was told this afternoon that my VIN is 5044 and that my DS will be calling me early next week to schedule a delivery. My window was 2/16 to 3/2, so this suggests I may get it delivered a bit early.

I'm at factory charging my roadster. Went by service where finished S cars are parked. All coming out are 60s. Highest vin I saw was #5040

Only because I asked. Since it was coming to the house wanted to know in advance what was *supossed* to be missing. Also told me they expected to have the parcel shelf to me by end of Feb... Enjoy your day!

Thanks! Two hours and counting. Garage is only 1/2 to 2/3 empty (just put another carload into the SUV for Goodwill), GAH--not sure what this means for my charging, maybe hoping the cable isn't so thick I can't close the garage door on it. ;-)

VIN I didn't know I had

I have been given a delivery window of 2/16 to 3/2 for home delivery. I have just been assuming there's no way I'd actually have it then and in my mind have just been adding a month, so 3/16 to 4/2.

Today I decided to download the Tesla Ap for iPhone so I could play with it. Disappointingly you can't do anything with it, not even explore until you turn on Remote Access in the car, which is impossible to do when you don't have the car. But the exciting news is that at the top it has VIN P04923. I've never been told I have a VIN so it was exciting to see it there. I assume that really is the VIN because I had to login to My Tesla before it popped up.

so there's a little delivery / VIN news from the apple country of Washington State.
