@Bloomj a suggestion based on my experience when the flap makes contact with the ground (inevitable) and bends backwards at the bottom, it may (will, could) pull the flap off the tape at the top. If you consider doing another version, leave another 1" to the left of the sheetmetal that overlaps the rubber wheel well inlay and put a stainless or black machine screw through the flap and wheel well liner. I am experimenting in real time now with mine and after having them pull off at the top twice, found this to be the ticket. Another fix could be if you can find a plastic clip that could sandwich the flap and the wheel well lip together. I would not use a metal clip that bites into the aluminum body of the car as ultimately the differences in metallurgy will cause corrosion on the backside. Just a thought and friendly feedback to the 'home brewers' in this forum. The excellent @M4H4X solution has this clip thermoformed into the plastic to do that job. Enjoy ! Mine are getting winter break in now including miles and miles of slush/crap on the Interstate (Highway here in Canada) every day :)

I wondered if that would be needed…I was planning to use the other two to make rear flaps. How much tape did you use?

As long a strip as I could hide under the flap. Especially with cold weather, the impact of the bottom of the flap hitting the ground even slightly was enough to pop the top off the tape but it may have been the cold weather as well.
