My charge port has dementia

I had a similar issue yesterday. My charge port wouldn't open, but I managed to pry it open with a plastic card (I was far from home at the time). After opening, I noticed that the mechanism was wet. I dried it, and then the problem seemed to be solved.

Do I need a new charge port?

Probably not, unless it starts acting strange when not wet. There's no real sealing in the charge port door, so a driving rain from port can get the interior wet. It doesn't normally happen, but it can. When plugged in, the charge port does seal so there should be no problem. However, I wish someone would make a cover that fastened around the cable (velcro) and went over to the hatch edge to ensure dryness in all but hurricane conditions.
