I'm sure its something simple to fix. I don't think its blue tooth connectivity because doesn't that need a stationary base. In the auto if I click on speaker phone the calls go thru

its most likely bluetooth connectivity (not sure what you mean about a stationary base, though).....
Try going to the bluetooth menu in the car, and disconnecting it from there, AND going on your phone, and forgetting / deleting / disconnecting the connection to your car on the phone.
Note, only disconnect the connection that shows your car, not the unnamed bluetooth connections, as those are typically phone as key. The car makes 2 different connections to your phone, one for phone and audio, and different one for the phone as key feature.
Anyway, delete the phone from the car interface, and the car from the phone and pair them again, and test.
