MY Jan 21 center console not the “2021 model y slider console”. It is matte black but does not have the sliding console feature. Can anyone please advise what may have happened?

Tesla has started to introduce its new center console in the Model Y electric SUV after bringing it to the Model 3 last year. ... One of the vehicles was showing a VIN 122,778 and a build date of 02/09/2021, which can give us an indication of around when Tesla made the change in the Model Y

That is very strange - I've not seen a console like the one you show. That looks like a 3rd, temporary option before the moved over to the current model with the sliding door. It is like for a very few number of VINs they kept the 1st gen console but removed the gloss black and replaced with matte? Odd.

Did you purchased this new? If you did not, the previous owner put the matte black film over the piano black finish. I did this for MY purchased in December 2020.

It's a wrap or cover to get rid of the piano black look, which tended to show fingerprints and scratches very easily. Is there a door to cover the phone chargers as well?

Yes this was purchased new and delivered in Feb 21. Manufactured Jan 21. No film installed.

No wrap, was delivered like this. No door cover for charging station.

That would make sense, I guess only one month of manufactured cars has this!
