MY LEASE RETURN

Hi,

Not imminent but when my lease period expires does anyone have any thoughts/experience on the level of assessment of the vehicle by the leasing company ?

I keep the car in good nick but I wondered if they may examine battery usage/charging habits etc ? I do quite often go to 100% charge.

I would’ve thought it would be entirely based on their fair wear and tear guidelines, and that’s basically it.

If you were never told how to charge, how often or by which method then they can’t reasonably expect to pull you up on that kind of stuff.

I have a mate who has M3 on lease. He regularly charges to 100% as he’s handing it back so literally doesn’t care about the state of the battery. Rest of the car is taken car of and gleaming.

I handed ours back in July - the lady that picked it up had a quick look round and noted a minor bit of kerbing to the alloy/took a picture of the mileage. Nothing else and definitely no difficult questions - in fact she spent most of the time enjoying the coffee made by the wife.

We were with ZenAuto by the way.

Nope not a sausage - I couldn’t believe it. I was sure they’d sting us for a bit at least but thankfully not.

You could always ask Zen what their fixed costs are for each type of repair. I’ve always been pleasantly surprised.
Lex say £56 for an alloy refurb >50mm, and Leaseplan £77.
Both of these sound cheaper than an independent wheel repair shop.

Have a gander at this. It's a couple of years old but should give you a good steer. I don't suppose they'll care about the battery any more than they would about an engine.

In my case it was a very easy and quick collection. I was told that the car goes to an auction the following day, so no issues. No attention to the state of the battery.

When my first Tesla lease ended (rejection) the car was delivered from my house straight to BCA auction site (still on the Tesla App at the time). I guess it depends on if the lease company has pre- sold the car.
