I suspect the comment about "sensors" is a miscommunication on the part of the installer the OP has spoken to. In reality they are almost certainly talking about the damage that has been caused to rear window defrosters while tinting Tesla's, as that runs along the edge of the glass.

That’s what I thought. Is there something different about Teslas? Are they poorly stuck on or positioned differently? Other cars don’t seem to be a problem getting tinted
