New rain sensor on new build cars?

I was watching carwow's review of a European-spec Model 3 and noticed what appears to be a rain sensor above the cameras. Skip to 9:55:

Anyone know if that's in fact the case?

Oh interesting, I thought the point of going to solve rain using vision was for future planning with the push towards FSD, not necessarily saving cost for a small device. If this is true I guess it would argue against that point.

I’ll have to check my M3 when I get home to look for that device.

Rear fog lights are usually a mandatory requirement in the EU. That's a compliance thing more than anything.

Yep, it's present on my BMW, but the button is paneled off. A quick snip of some plastic allows the button to depress (blank button with no icon). Rear fog lights work wonderfully for preventing accidents in heavy fog and also for encouraging tailgaters back off

Do we know if the actual rear fog light bulbs are present and just not used?

I think that's a photo sensor used to determine if the headlights should be on or off when set to auto.

I would be rather surprised if that were the case.
