Bit odd I have to say. Charging is not really an optional extra! I can see not including both, as many people only really use one or the other. But maybe include one of the buyer's choice?

Its a stealth price rise. For some that $600 might be the differance between over the $80k cap or not, so not ordering a UMC with the car and ordering it later might save them $8000.

Us early adopters may not have got a rebate, but we surely saved getting both of those for free, plus the free internet connection.

The change is in the last day or two, your June order will come with a UMC.

Or deferring a price rise.

With the size of NZ and the great third party DC charging infrastructure you have relative to country size I tend to agree a UMC is more optional.

Just to add to this, I have contacted Tesla regarding charger for my model Y order which I have placed on 7th of July and they have confirmed that I will get UMC.

That's good. not that you would be using it as much, but it's much handy in emergency.
