Ontario Making it Easier to Charge Electric Vehicles

Looks good - they need this for condos as well, as we were discussing in the Pickering thread.

If you are looking to take advantage of this then you better get going as I doubt this would continue if the Liberals lose the election in June.

More details here: Workplace electric vehicle charging incentive program

They will be giving up to $7500/ charger and it is a $5M program so that could pay for up to 666 chargers - funding is on a first come, first served basis.

Hopefully this goes better than the L3 initiative.

Sometimes an $800 unit will do, where other times you may want one selling for $3,000. Some commercial L2 stations sell for as much as $5,500 + tax.

The structure of this rebate program may encourage the installation of the more expensive stations.

Hopefully, KSI will be excluded and there will be some mechanism to prevent fraud. You can be sure sleazy contractors are licking their chops, planning to submit claims with inflated installation costs.

Quebec has had a similar, but less generous program for almost four years. Originally, the offer was to cover 75% of expenses up to $5,000. However, it was cut to 50%, shortly after the media reported one company submitting a large number of applications for the full $5,000 in peculiar circumstances.
