@v8eater
just to let you know, they don't accept personal checks at delivery, it has to be a cashier check payable to TESLA from your institution.
I financed half and pay the remainder in cash, and found that doing the payment online, the day before the scheduled delivery, made it so much easier for me.

congrats on the purchase
Hmmm... at my pickup location - (Mt. Kisco, NY), they said personal checks (not certified), and checks from financial institution are fine .. kind of a shock to me - but I'll roll with that ;-)

Not entirely true. I think personal checks are accepted at some stores. At my delivery in Dedham MA my personal check was fine. They deposited it that same day.

Not posting about the wait as I know about that. My question is about paying for the car. I financed through my FCU and will have a blank check ready tomorrow. I assume when I pick the car up I just write it out for the balance?

Also make sure that you have proof of insurance and drivers license. And someone to take pictures of that grin when you see your car!

I guess every dealer is different. Just going with what my sales person told me...and I didn't want to risk not getting deliver for a technicality.
I don’t blame you one bit Lord Vader. It’s just so typical of Tesla. One thing applies here and it doesn’t apply there. Enjoy your car. I’ve had mine for 2 months and every day it’s like the day I bought it home. Congrats!!

I just so happened to log onto my Tesla account and noticed I have a VIN and delivery date. No email from Tesla. Is this normal? The delivery date is on a Tuesday which doesn't work for me or my family as the service center is two hours away. I assume I can reschedule for the weekend?

Just odd that I didn't get any notification from them.

I didn't get a notification either, but I was able to move the delivery time by contacting my sales person. As long as the preferred time and date is after the scheduled one, it should be fine.

Congratulations!

Your assigned delivery adviser will be the best person to answer that question. The overall experience is pretty smooth. You will receive a call from someone in delivery team to confirm/reschedule your automated scheduled appointment and will be able to answer all your questions.

You'll be spellbound when you see your car. Take all the time you need to absorb and cherish the experience.

Depends on who you're talking to. The delivery manager I spoke to said personal check is fine.

Just to add to the list of things that can go wrong, there was my experience. I got everything set up with the credit union (Bethpage), and spoke to the Tesla delivery people, and we were all set, but.... the person at the credit union dropped my check envelope into a FedEx box that wasn't picked up from on the weekends! I was watching the tracking number all weekend and it wasn't moving! Finally, on Monday it started to go, and the local service center got it the next day.

Those were three long sleepless nights!!!

Just an update. Called the service center yesterday and was able to change my delivery to today. It took them a bit to get back to me as they had to check and make sure the car was ready to go.

So far the experience has been good. I'll be departing for Richmond in about an hour. I'll update the thread once I get home.

Just a note. I ordered the 29th and am taking delivery on the 4th. I'm going to assume that Tesla is just pumping out cars and shipping them before orders come in. There are only so many configurations.

Delivery experience in one word....FANTASTIC!

Our delivery specialists, Mandy at the Gleen Allen SC in VA, "gets it". Our Tesla story is perhaps more unique than most given the reservation was made by my wife's late Grandfather who loved all things tech. The process, in total, took about an hour. Everyone at the SC was friendly and seemed to care about the mission of Tesla.

The car itself was flawless. No real gripes that I brought up at delivery. The driver and passenger door seals have that "pucker" in the corner that I need to work on. Also, the steering wheel is ever so slightly off to the right when driving straight. It's extremely minor. Most wouldn't notice it. I'm a car guy so I do.

Paint, fit and finish are really good. I developed a squeak in the center console door driving home. Nothing I can't fix and not worth driving 114 miles to have looked at.

There is one huge problem I can't solve, my wife wants one now.
