Renting a house setup for EV

I've rented with a NEMA 14-50. Both times the house was for rent it wasn't used. Have another home in WA that I will rent, we will see if someone cares.

    Hansshow Trunk Kick Sensor Crisis

It may take several days for them to reply.

Driving and riding style affect on Range. Planning to stop more often, drive and use “normally.” Thoughts?

I've made a drive from Western WA to Pullman twice now. Winds and speed are the two biggest variables for range. Car does a ok job of routing your through SC's but I find it to be conservative. After my first trip to Pullman, I learned the SC stops on the way and prefer to skip two of them. I...

    Mobile Charger no longer included

Will Prose on YT speaks very highly of these. https://www.amazon.com/Emporia-Charger-Electric-Hardwired-Charging/dp/B09BP1GM76/ref=sr_1_24?crid=14JMUN6CPTAVH&keywords=electric+car+charger&qid=1650241840&sprefix=electric+car+charger%2Caps%2C153&sr=8-24

Range displayed in the car is less then advertised

Best way to see your actual range is to pull up the efficiency screen during your trip. Takes real time measurements on consumption.

8% degradation after 9k miles, wtf?

The display in the car does NOT show battery degradation. The only way to truly get an accurate number is to charge the car to 100 percent and drive it until it is dead and measure the kwh used. That is the only way.

Tesla Model Y Standard Range AWD to be priced at $59,990 USD

Any mention of the charging speeds for the 4680 SRY? If it can ride the 250kw (or faster with V4 SC's) the range reduction isn't that much of a impact.

How do you plan your charging stops?

Short answer, bladder capacity. I did a cross country trip and planned every charging stop before I departed, deviated from the plan almost immediately. I think the onboard charging recommendations are ok but too conservative for my liking. I use Plug share to look at amenities around the SC...

    Modern Spare - Usage Report

Not really a place for it. Just keep it in the back. There is a guy on YT that made a few small modifications and was able to fit the kit in the rear well area. When I go back cross country my plan is to put it in the roof top box. Doesn't weigh much and I don't PLAN on needing it.

What items would you take on a long road trip?

If you want a modernspare, order it now. I ordered in Jan and still don't have it. I've done a cross country trip. Planned everything about the trip then threw most of the planning out the window. The only part of the plan I kept was the hotel reservations. I don't go by charge remaining most...

    Modern Spare - Usage Report

I have (will) both. Plug kit would come in handy for easy repairs. Spare to get me and the family off the highway to someplace safe.

Ordered mine in Jan also. Actually sent them a message last week asking the status. They said it should ship this week.

Dr ColorChip - Has anyone used it?

I have used Dr Color Chip on all my cars including both Tesla's. My M3 is deep blue metallic and the touch up matches really well. The wife's MY pearl white isn't as close but they warn you when you purchase. The touchup on her car was not really visible and only for corrosion protection.

Southern CA Edison rates make it not worth charging at home

If you live in CA, and plan on staying, solar with a battery backup is really the only way to go. There is zero chance electricity will get less expensive. Solar alone would help the OP but the battery will make the ROE faster. Stay "off grid" during the peak hours. Charge the car during the day...

    Tesla’s Roadside Safety Kit

    Problems Hansshow Power Trunk V6

I have yet to be able to get anyone to respond to my issue with both this and the fact they sent me the wrong harness for the kick sensor.

    Tesla’s Roadside Safety Kit

I just started putting my own together. Good quality 12v pump, tire plug kit, first aid kit, thermal blankets, LED hazard lights, snow chains, and LED flashlight to start. When I move cross country again I'll buy a modern spare.

    Problems Hansshow Power Trunk V6

Curious if anyone with the V6 installed lost the ability to open and close the trunk via the screen or app after V11 software. I just installed my V6 two days ago and can't operate the trunk via the phone or app at all. It works otherwise. It also seems then sent me a Y harness for the foot...

    New Y software vastly outdated

Just pick up my wife's MYLR yesterday (9 Dec). Got it added to my Teslafi account before we left Tesla so I can track every mile. The car currently has version 2021.35.103. Interesting thing is, it had 2021.36.8.8 as of 5 Dec and this older version was installed just before we took delivery...

Picked the car up. Only one small issue with the paint on the hatch at the very front of the hinge point. Wife loves it so far. Renton parking lot is packed with new cars. Car was manufactured in Dec. Rear mud flaps no PPF on the rear doors.

Today is DD. Wife received two text messages, two emails, and a phone call last night to confirm we are picking it up and offering an earlier time which we can't support. Anyone use this Romex 6/3 cable during install?

Wire prices are the reason I'm not installing another NEMA 14-50 for the wife's new Y. Plus I'm renting the place out in 7 months. I'll live on a 110 20A. I ride a bike to work anyway.

    Charging during cold months

I think you are overthinking this some. Preconditioning is really for your comfort. On really cold days, you will get less regen and even reduced performance from a cold battery but thats it. Honestly, I don't worry about that at all. On a long trip, you can set the SC as your destination so...

    September 2021 Order Delivery Dates

I agree with you. Wife and I had a discussion about the possible tax credit and placing a hold on our delivery as it was 2-3 months before we expected. In the end, I'd rather not take the chance of getting the order canceled on the possibility of the tax credit passing. The delta between what we...

    September 2021 Order Delivery Dates

I'm not sure it exists. I believe manufactures submit batches of VIN's during the production run. Because you received a VIN doesn't necessarily mean your car is actually built yet. With the current run rate, I'd say a few days to a week before it's actually built. I could be completely wrong on...

    Gap insurance?

Not sure if you got an answer to your question but I'm in the exact same situation. Financed through USAA and insured with State Farm. Range differences with Pilot Sport All Season 4 or CrossClimate2 vs Primacy MXM4

Second on the run flats. My wife had them on her mini and they were, by far, the worst riding tires I've ever had. Ditched them for a set of regular tires and had a patch kit and a pump in the back of the car.

MYLR vs Mach-e vs RAV4 Prime

Range differences with Pilot Sport All Season 4 or CrossClimate2 vs Primacy MXM4

Yeah OEM. If that's the case then I guess I look for another brand. Prices are fairly high for the tires mentioned here. Lots of lower cost options but I don't know how off brands perform.

Charge from Powerwall avoiding the grid.

Of the states where investment in solar makes the most sense, CA is either number 1 or tied with HI. If you plan on living in CA for a while, solar is the only way to go. That is AFTER you invest in less expensive ways to lower your energy usage.
