Outlet Timer to Counteract Charging Glitches

There are occasions when my cars charge outside of the cheapest TOU time (for example, New Charging Scheduling Glitch—Explain This?). There is no way to tell the car "No matter what, only charge during these hours!".

I'm thinking of buying a 14-30 version* of this to prevent these problems:

Any problems with that idea?

*I haven't been able to find one for 14-30 plugs. Amperage too high?

Did you instead consider controlling your charge times another way? I think TeslaFi can do scheduled actions, I'm sure other apps can too. Just set the target SOC in the car without any schedule and start charging on a schedule from another app?

Interesting idea. I want to avoid third-party apps, but I'll consider that.

Then you can develop your own scripts, or use a home automation system... Anything that calls the Tesla API to start and stop charging.
