This same thing happened to me today. A 70 MPH gust of wind caught my Model 3 driver side door and rammed it open. Nothing was near me thank goodness but the door was stressed big time. The door opens and closes fine but the inner hinge pushed out and crinkled the outer aluminum door panel. Does not look very nice. The damage looks just like what the originator of this post experienced.
I took my car to a paint-less dent repair place and they said they can fix it - involves removing and disassembling the door and straightening the metal out. He estimated a cost of $2,500 so definitely an insurance claim job.
Bottom line - if you are experiencing wind and you plan to open your Tesla door - hold on to the handle for dear life !!
