According to my DC, my car is in Seattle (arrived there Christmas Day) and the "Shipping Team is searching for a Carrier to bring the car to [me]." I offered to fly over (about 300 miles) and drive back if they couldn't find a carrier quickly. No response to that.

I'd really, really like to take delivery before the new year. Not only am I impatient :), I'd like the tax credit.
.

Just got an email from my DA. He says my car will be put on a truck tomorrow morning and the driver will attempt same day delivery!

Delivery complete!!

Wow...what a rollercoaster experience to get to this point. Order 10/31, VIN 12/9, Delivery 12/27.
P3D+ white/black, Long Island New York.

Just drove the car home, so cannot provide any meaningful impressions yet. Going to get PPF tomorrow. I also have a set of winter wheels and tires that I need to put on.

For those of you in CA, check out Tesla insurance! I currently have AAA, 30, bundled with home insurance policy, with a clean driving record and coverage (well above the state limits) for my P3D+ was about $600 cheaper a year.

Switching auto insurance today to Tesla's.

Good to know! Had a rude awakening with AIS yesterday... $2400 for 6mos o_O

15 years with them.. 2 small comprehensive claims with no accidents ever and no tickets since 2003.

Apparently... Mercury does NOT want to insure Teslas. Crazy!

Delivered!
Paint is it pretty good shape, noticed paint drops on front bumper and a bird dropping burned in on the hood. I think a good detail will fix the bird. Otherwise no problems. Smooth drive home, looked over car in the light for first time this morning. Seems like they do a much better job building now vs 2018. 4miles on delivery!!

ps. I switched to costco insurance from mercury because they were way too expensive for tesla. Progressive was okay price but costco was a lil better.
Good luck everyone!!

Quick word of caution to all the new owners out there - be careful with these rims. I made a quick right in a parking lot and already curbed my rim after 1 week. Had my last 2 cars for 8+ years without ever doing that, so I have a feeling the dimensions of this car may be a little unique in this respect. Wasn’t like I was even close by my estimation. Rear passenger side wheel - I’ve heard this is the one to watch.

+1

I turned wayyy too early going into a parking garage last Saturday and heard the grind. Died a little inside, almost cried too. I contacted the SC to order a new (extremely expensive) one to throw on once I get more comfortable with the car and keep the curbed one as a spare. Will try to get a picture later.

Prices are obviously going to be different for everybody. Personally, Tesla insurance was about 30% more than my current carrier (Wawanesa) for the same coverage.

Looks great. Our friend picked up his on 24th on LI too. He said he doesn’t see many Teslas so he’ll be glad to have more company. His went for PPF too and I think he had a hard time departing with it so soon.

Sooo quick update. Story so far:

  • November 23rd: Placed order! Was told I'd be good to receive the car before I left for the holidays (on the 12th; returning Jan 7th)
  • December 12th: I left with no updates at all
  • December 23rd: Received a VIN
  • December 26th: I was told my car pick-up has been scheduled for tomorrow (the 28th)
  • Today: Told the delivery center I can't pick up my car on the specified date, and so it's going to be release for general sale. They'll try to get me into an existing inventory car when I get back!
Kinda saw it coming, to be honest, but still smarts a little. I'm guessing there won't be any existing inventory when I get back, which I'm guessing means I'll have to wait until the end of Q1 for my car. Womp womp.

Glad everyone else is doing well in their cars, though! Go tear up the roads!

Took delivery awhile ago. All done!

Was a home delivery and the dude drove it directly from Fremont. Signed a few documents, did the ACH transfer, handed me the keycards and that was that. Initially had an issue getting the phone key to work, but got that resolved.

He did allow me to inspect the car which I appreciated. It wasn't perfect, unfortunately:

-minor clearcoat scratches and debris inside the paint, see pictures

-thin paint around the license plate lights area (can't tell in pics)

-panel gaps on both C pillars, "within spec" maybe?

-excess pleather and stitching material hanging off the rear passenger seat

-steering wheel slightly dirty and the car was dusty

-dirt stuck in driver door speaker grille

-kink in interior rubber trim on driver's side C pillar

Very minor issues and I probably won't do a due bill on this cosmetic stuff. Whatever lol.

But the main issue, is the rubber seal between the rear passenger door window and small window, there is a gap between the seal and the frame of the car. Same thing between the 2 panes of glass on the roof, on the driver's side. Probably a 1mm gap? See pics, circled the area in red. Should I be concerned about these? What if there's water ingress at these points? Wondering if I should due bill these?

Car looks and smells brand new! I didn't realize MSM had blue pearl in it. Nice!

Satisfied for the most part. Now time to get the insurance together and drive this mfer! lol
