Phone key issue

Since yesterday, our phone key stopped working. I have to go to the app to unlock the car and then use the key card to start the car. Is there a reported problem?

Phone key doesn’t rely on connection to Tesla cloud service. I was able to open the car during the service outage yesterday.

Is the problem not resolved yet? As of this morning, i had to use the key card to drive the Tesla Y. Phone key does not work

Phone worked fine yesterday and today for me to unlock the car. Only issue was controlling the car from the app, which was struggling to connect.

Kind of basic but the app has to be running open or in the background for the key to work. If you shut your phone down or closed out the app it will not work.

Happens once in a blue moon. I simply uninstall and reinstall the phone as a key which never fails to fix the issue. Takes literally 2 mins to do. I must say though that the blue moons have become more frequent over the last 6 months.

I use android. Wife uses Ios. Both have issues. Earlier the Tesla would recognize us as we approach and could open the door without having to explicitly open the door from the app. Now we have to open the door thru the app and then use the key card to start

this happened to me so i just disconnected and reconnected my bluetooth and probably solve!

Does it work if you tap your phone to the B-pillar? You don't need the Tesla app open, you just need to unlock the phone, and make sure no apps are in the foreground. I've never had it fail to unlock/lock or start the car. You don't even need wireless enabled, the phone can be in airplane mode.

Could be related to the worldwide issues from Friday and Saturday. You can try uninstalling both apps from your phones. I would also try a reboot on the car. Hold both steering wheel scroll wheels down until screen goes black, then wait for it to reboot.
