Phone Key

Hi - a new M3 owner here! I am struggling to set up the phone key - when I get in the car, put the card on the central console and go to set up phone key on the app, it tries to Pair but then comes up with it can't find the car and tells me to get closer to it when I am actually inside it!

Any ideas? Could I just need to rest my phone?

Just make sure you have enabled mobile access.
Controls > Safety & Security > Allow Mobile Access

Checked that and mobile access is on, bluetooth on my phone is good but still doesnt recognise the car I'm sat in

I have today just set up new iPhone as key.
On the app tap PHONE KEY and then START.
Once car is detected then tap the keycard on the door pillar. Job done!
Perhaps it doesn't like leaving the keycard on the centre console through the whole process.

I haven’t got the Start option, just Pair. I am going to try a reboot of the phone first and then go from there

Here’s a quick video of how it normally works Add phone as a key. The reason I say normally, adding my new iPhone 13 this evening seemed to work direct from the app once I’d used the key card to get into the car, pretty much like Mr Miserable mentioned.

As an aside for iPhone users, iOS 15 comes with an authenticator built into the password part of Settings. Set up 2 factor authentication again but using iOS rather than MS Authenticator and it worked fine. Useful to know if you don’t want to download a separate app.
