From President Obama's speech yesterday:
"Beginning October 1st, Americans will be able to log on and comparison shop an array of private health insurance plans, side-by-side -- just like you go online and compare the best deal on cars or the best deal on computers."

Maybe cars wasn't the best example? If the health insurance market will be just like shopping for cars, we wouldn't be able to buy it online, we would have to go to our local Blue Cross franchised dealer to buy the policy.

It's good to know he thinks we should be able to buy cars online though. Elon should send out a tweet thanking the president for supporting online car sales!

Yes, that would be a nice tweet.

After comparing plans on the health insurance exchange website (now called the health insurance marketplace), individuals who aren't insured through their employer will then buy the plan online. No dealer required. That's why insurance brokers were opposed to the law-- it puts them out of business for the individual market.
