Answer: It's just a chemistry improvement, using silicon in the annode...

For those following panasonic developments this is significant. This is the same technology that was supposed to be in their 4000mAh cells.

A: Yes, we're improving low end models and high-end models. There's a Model S avalable for $5,000 less, and $10,000 more, plus $5,000 option to increase pack even more.

And the P90D is absolutely nuts.

90kWH was developed for the X -- 10% greater energy useage and 10% larger.

Net impact on range with the Model X with 90 kWH will be about 5%.

That is from the order form for a new car. You have to start with an 85kWh config to change the config to a 90kWh. Who knows what the price will be for existing customers, but probably much much more.

The Ludacris upgrade requires an additional $10,000 on top of the P90D? Now THAT seems Ludacris to me.

Same here! Happy with my 70D purchase.
Though I think the 90D is what range monkeys will go for .. still feel that 70D's range is plenty!

Autopilot updates -

Musk: key function of 7.0 is highway auto pilot. Works great if highway markings are clear and there are no 'weird things'. Acid test: equivalent of New York for auto pilots is I405 in LA. White concrete with faded white lines are causing some headaches for the auto pilot software. -- "remarkably tricky" to get it to work on the 405.


I say, roll it out Musk .. treat your customers like adults, roll it out, even though its less than perfect. It'll never be 100% perfect.

Ludacris mode will be offered on the Model X -- the Model X will be 10% heavier, so 3.3 (ish) 0-60 time due to higher centre of gravity -- but just a guess, says Musk.

Model X in a "few months"?? Could use a little more specific target.
