Pricing change rant

i paid the $500 change fee and got bumped into the new price book, all with the help of my DS... I am now getting the car I originally ordered for a few thousand less. Happy customer here.

FWIW, I paid the $500, got the opportunity to move from an S85 to a 70D and tweak color/options, plus get better price on option package ('liftgate'), and overall got a better deal...no complaints.

Lucky you, they refused to do it for me. Not at all happy about it. And not happy with the person I dealt with at all. Difference is about 4K for me configuration.

If your car is still in the production que and has not started production yet then I see no reason why they can't do it with you paying the $500 change fee....it's the same thing as if you're changing your configuration...I would escalate....good luck!

I would certainly not entitle your thread with the word "rant". You have a legitimate complaint. And the way Tesla has handled the pricing changes on the options is a mess. No one likes to feel as if they overpaid for the exact same features and options for a car within a relatively short period of time from when the changes were made. If that occurs, then an adjustment on the price should be made for all previous orders within a certain time period, perhaps 30 days or so. I had my $5,000.00 deposit with Tesla for 2 years, even doing so when Tesla was going through a rougher patch as a show of support, then finalized my order a little less than 2 months ago with the Silver Metallic Paint, Grey Leather Seats, Glossy Obeche Wood Decor, White Alcantara Headliner, Dual Chargers, Wall Connector, Tech Package with Autopilot, Premium Interior Package and Subzero Weather Package. Would I to order the same car with the same features right now, it would cost $2,770.00 less than what I am supposed to pay. I have spoken with numerous individuals at Tesla, all to no avail. This is on top of trying to find out when the car is scheduled to be delivered to the Highland Park, IL store for pickup. The "Delivery Experience" specialist doesn't follow up, neither did the headquarters office after leaving the inquiry details. This is really poor communication on the part of Tesla. Yet, if you want to reach Tesla Sales, it is relatively easy. They usually answer right away and are all over you. I am less inclined to move in the direction of purchasing a Model X based on what has happened to this point. So, for $2,770.00 they will very likely loose another sale. They probably have so many sales that they don't care as much as they should.

My experience at the Tyson's Corner, VA was nothing less than superior, different locations must not all be up to the standards of Tesla if you're having issues. And why was it 2yrs in the making?

We did escalate through a very excellent DS and Tesla made it right. Very happy with Tesla and the car we received a week ago.
