QI Wireless Phone Charging

Thought I'd share this fairly simple and inexpensive modification we made so we can wirelessly charge our cell phones.

Fairly simple. *Rips out entire center console assembly all the way to the back, disassembles tray and Qi charger, glues things back together*

I installed QI charger from Spiegel and it's probably in top5 must have accessories for the model X. Works amazing

I just order one of these from Abstract Ocean, Dash Mounted Qi Charger. Installation is covered on the video tab.

Btw for those chargers you may need a longer micro usb cable ~6ft

Do you know if anyone makes something like this for the area with the USB port and power outlets. I need my coffee when I drive and don't want to give up my armrest!

What's the effective ranges on the 3-coil? It looked like there were a lot of size concerns, so I found a 2-coil that supposedly has a 10mm range. When I tested it out in the console with my iPhone X (with case), it wouldn't hold a steady charge.

hmmmm so by any chance can anyone with a 3d printer make something similar to Teslas new wireless charger? the installation would be a ton easier, no taking apart of the door lol as it sits on the front of the door.

i tried to order the part via tesla but they said its not available

did you have to shave off the rubber on yours? I had a single coil, but the only way it was going to get close enough was to shave some of the rubber bumpers.

Or...you can go this route. Works great, inexpensive, the whole setup is easily removable, you can still keep your wired charger (if you have one), phone is in a good position, and it actually adds another cup holder to your car.
