On the refresh model X does the key card always need to be on the wireless phone charging spot to drive? Like lets say your key card is in your pocket do you ALWAYS need to take it out your pocket and place it on the phone charging spot to drive every single time? Can this be modified/changed through a setting if so? lol

Not if you have set your smartphone as key.

The key card is meant to be a backup and something you can give to valets and those who are going to service your car. Your phone as key is the normal method, and it just has to be in the car somewhere.

The card is RFID, just like your contactless credit card. It does not have a battery so its range is very short. Placing it in your pocket doesn't work: That's too far from the receiver to read your card.

Take it out, place it in the charging spot, put the car in drive, then you can put it back in your pocket.
