Quarter Glass/Trim Adjustment

I just got my car back from the body shop. And they did an absolute *sugar* job. One of the many issues is the quarter glass and the trim. There is a huge gap (not what I complained about even!) and because of this I can see the adhesive very clearly. It’s very unsightly.

I brought it to their attention and their excuse that all Tesla’s are like that, and that mine had the gap when it arrived. It didn’t, at least not nearly this bad.

My question is. What does this take to adjust? Can the trim be adjusted independently? Will a new window need to be installed? Is there play when installing it, so that it can be lined up properly? Before(pictures with damage) and after.

Thanks all!

Was the fender replaced? If so the trim and window are likely correct and the fender is off a bit. I'm not aware of any way to adjust the trim as it's one huge part that goes from the rear to the front.

If the fender was replaced, I suspect it may be very difficult to fix, short of removing the fender and installing a new one, which might look the same (or worse). The process for a fender replacement is to cut off the old one, and then install a special fender only made for bodywork. It's not the same fender as used in production where they weld on the fender. The replacement fender is riveted in place. Still, it never hurts to ask. I hope you find a satisfactory solution.

That window is glued in like your windshield, which is a lot of work to remove and replace so they'll definitely try the "that's normal" line even though it's put on wrong.
I know it is glued, but do I assume that glue also comes with some play in how you glue it in? I know there are tabs that the window fits into to keep it in place. Ultimately they are blaming it on Tesla, and it looks to me they just did a shitty job lining it up. They are trying to convince me it has no adjustment.

Thank you!

The quarter panel was replaced. I suppose that is possible, but I’m almost certain the alignment is off at the window and the the quarter. If the quarter was off that would expose a lot more issues at the other body panels.

Thank you!
