Rear view mirror power source for aftermarket dash cam problem

I had my old dash cam hard wired via the rear view mirror power source tap on my 2016 Tesla Model X. No issues with power.

I recently purchased a newer Garmin 67W dash cam.
The rear view mirror power source only works intermittently for the new Garmin 67W dash cam but always works for charging my phone, old dash cam, etc.

Cigarette lighter always turns on my new Garmin 67W dash cam.
Any ideas why?

Ps wish I had the factory dash cam on the newer X!

You are probably getting to much voltage drop at the mirror (very low gauge wires) with a higher load dash cam.
I tap at the mirror on my X for a RD. I've always wanted to tap it further up the line.
There is a connector under the headliner above your head feeding the mirror.
But I have not been brave enough to pull that headliner down to tap it there.
