I ordered in Dec '21 but I turned down one vin and put it on hold for 30 days. I also changed the color from white to black.


My VIN came over night (I know because I check like 10 times a day)

What time of the day usually you receive a VIN? early morning or anytime during the day? Curious to know so that I don't keep checking for it all day

I received mine around 5:30PM Hawaii time right as I walked in the house from work.

Adding mine to the list from South, California.

Original ordered MYLR gray/black, 5 seats. EOD was 5/29-6/26 with financing in September 2021

Changed to MYP on 4/4 with cash payment. New EOD changed while writing this post to 4/7-4/18

Got VIN today 4/8, scheduled for pick up on 4/12

You don’t fill out the payment portion until you have your vin

Wow, I ordered on Aug-16-2021. And I still don't have a VIN. Delivery keeps slipping out. I have a Motor Vehicle Order Agreement and even did a chat with Tesla to make sure it was ok. Red AWD LR Model Y. Any suggestions? I'm also in the DMV

My advisor told me I need to complete the order profile, picked a financing or cash option. Tesla prioritize people with complete order profiles. Once you get the VIN, you can change your financing option anytime. Just got a VIN, and told them to change to financing + cash, instead of cash only. Took them like a few minutes to update the profile.

Also some people said it is faster if you just select Cash option over financing for now, and switch when you get the VIN, which is what I did.

Welp on my first day of EDD (4/8 - 4/22) and I've got no VIN thus far...

Is that normal? Like some of y'all have a VIN and your EDD is 4/18. Like how?!

If you don't get a VIN today, your EDD will push tomorrow morning.

Is that the usual pattern that's been seen with EDD's? I was wondering if it was because my profile is not "complete" as I haven't filled out financing since I'll be going w/ a third party financier.

That happened to me so I've found that to be true too, twice. Got to second day of EDD then it got pushed.

Yup. Same here. Pushed to the back of the line twice now also. Profile complete day one. I did manage to get past the canned bot responses at one point and was told my profile is good to go and I have done everything needed to move my delivery forward.

I didnt get VIN until the 2nd day in my window. My window was 4/7-4/18, VIN just came today 4/8

Everyone do yourselves a favor and get your insurance through Costco. I just signed up for my incoming MYP because I read they are cheap specifically if you own a Tesla, and it is absolutely true. Literally was half of what progressive or GEICO wanted.

This is good to know as we are with Geico right now. Will def get a quote through Costco soon as I get a VIN.
