Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

I did not make my mind to spend $105k at the time. I just thought I could reserve a $100 chance in 2022 to make decision.

Now I am kind of forced to buy it, otherwise, I would lost my $15k off coupon :)
This is exactly what I am thinking. I was hesitating to buy a model Y instead. But thinking about the $10k coupon, I don't have the intensive to cancel my order. :D

LR X order officially cancelled for now. It’s been a pleasure hanging with you all in this room, have my MYP on order and gonna sit it out for a couple years until range makes a big leap. I know we have been debating here, but I really think a 450-500 mile plus X will come in the next 2-3 years. But again, this is something that’s important to my family’s needs and not to all who order.

To those if you still waiting, best of luck, this car is still the best out there and can’t wait to see more photos and videos of all the details. Sending good vibes for earlier deliveries, someones gotta be getting bumped up one spot as I had a 6 seater with a JAN EDD :).

LIVE LONG AND PROSPER.
Bon voyage

Its not about driving 450 miles straight. Its having consistent usable range over 300 miles. No matter what weather, if you stop and park for 6 hours leaving sentry etc on. I can understand it, but I dont think its happening anytime soon. Superchargers are plentiful today, and will be even more so in a few years. I can also see V4 charging giving 300kW+ being done as an update to exisiting V3 chargers
Agreed it’s about usable range. I would pay a big premium for 500+ base range so I could tow an RV a reasonable 200-250 miles or can go somewhere and back without needing to stop at a supercharger etc. More base range gives more flexibility.

Do you really need that much range when you really think about it? Where would you go with your family that you can drive for 450 miles without stopping for bathroom break, or food, or even just to stretch your legs.... that's like 6 or so hours straight....Sorry if I sound like Elon lol, but its kind of a valid point. People look at the big number and think that they need it but the reality is that, its not necessary for most use cases.
Everyday? No. And I get your sentiment if you mostly just drive interstate from urban to urban.

I like to use the “utility” part of SUV and want to have range to actually make it usable. I don’t use it everyday but I want some of that capability. I know there are trade offs with ICE.

For example, I can’t even go to a campsite that’s 110 miles from my house up elevation with turning the car off and keeping sentry mode off the hold time I’m there, and stressing out on the drive home trying to make it. And this is with a MR3 LR with 315 miles rated range and aero wheels that gets closer to rated range.

If you factor in the X, less efficient, bigger wheels if you ordered it plus degradation over time 290-300 is rated. And I haven’t even gotten close to rated with our current X. Rated at 215 right now but real world 170 or worse when traveling at regular Texas freeway speeds. This is all fine for urban to urban travel on interstates but not enough to tow to more remote areas nor take to more remote locations for car camping without a lot of pre planning and sticking to RV or electrified campgrounds.

But again, it’s all preference. Charging infrastructure over time will help, but again I want to be able to drive more remote without always looking to tether.

That should be enough. And it's likely you will never use any of that. If you go to Tesla.com and the Supercharge section you can plan some typical trips and see if you need anything beyond the Supercharger network.

Also, check out the regional information on these forums for the areas you plan on frequenting. Americas -
My favorite is ABRP (A Better Route Planner) which does a better job at adding multiple stops AND does better (more accurate) range estimates. A Better Routeplanner

yes the price increases are getting ridiculous
I remember this from ECON 101 from (ahem) 20 years ago... in fact this may be the ONLY thing that I remember from ECON 101... Supply and Demand. When Demand goes up and Supply stays the same... price goes up. When Supply goes down and demand stays the same... price goes up. When Supply goes down and Demand goes up (like what we're seeing now) PRICE GOES WAY UP.

If Tesla is currently sold out of every single car they can produce in the next 8 months... AND the rate of new orders is outpacing production times, then prices MUST go up to slow down demand and increase profits.

Ryan Shaw (one of the Tesla YouTube guys I watch) said 6 months ago... "If you are thinking of buying a tesla in the near future, order one now. You can always delay delivery should you need to, but you'll lock in at the current pricing. And with demand where it is and supply where it is, pricing is likely only going up."

At this rate, I'm considering putting another couple of MX orders in because by the time that I get them, the price will have gone up another $20k each 😂

And now I'm back to January from TBD 🤔 But, the guy from NY who recently got a VIN mentioned his EDD said January and he still got the VIN. Really beginning to think these EDDs mean f*ck all.
Now, you're beginning to think that?!? For me it was when I looked at my account on May 3rd and my EDD said "April" 😂

Delivery but no X's

I'm entertained 😂
I feel a little like Maximus as I think about all the Tesla interns watching us in the arena. 😂

No, I always knew. But, with cars actually being delivered now, I figured the TBD date was pretty accurate and I wasn't expecting to see January again 😩

On a similar note, I had emailed my SA and he called me back. Told me that he's seeing January for delivery on my account, which is exaaaaactly what I can see. So, he's got the same information I have right now. I'm not sure why I keep trying, ugh.

Hi everyone! I've been inspired by all those who have been long time lurkers and joined the forum. So here I am! I've been a lurker since probably March of this year, but I wanted to throw my data points into the fray as well.

Order info:
  • Ordered on October 19, 2020
  • Converted to refresh order on June 16, 2021
  • Located in Raleigh, NC
  • RN114090469
  • Current EDD is January
Current config:
  • Model X formerly known as the Long Range
  • Deep Blue Metallic
  • 20'' Wheels
  • White Interior
  • Six Seat Interior (originally so no call/conversion)

The story was that I ordered this for my 30th birthday gift to myself. However I was also building a new home at the time. I was advised not to buy a car before my mortgage was finalized so I put the order on hold. The home was delayed multiple times until it was completed in January of 2021 which is why I never took delivery of a pre-refresh model. I can't complain though. I would've not been happy if I took delivery of one only to be refreshed a short time afterwards. In all, I'm happy it ended up like this, but at the same time, I've been waiting over a year to finally take delivery of my dream car. I currently own a Model 3 and love it. And since everyone was disclosing what they did a while back, I am a corporate trainer for one of the FAANGs.

I have to say that this waiting room has definitely helped me keep sane over this past year. So thanks everyone for being awesome! I'm looking forward to many more VINs.

Just curious how many reservations are ahead of me. If I'm 11456 does that mean that between Jan 23 and Feb 24 there were only 15 Model X ordered? I know that it doesn't mean much and there are lots of unknown criteria that will determine deliveries.
I ordered Feb 21 and my order number falls in that range! So ya, doesn't sound like there were THAT many orders at that point yet... I wonder what the order numbers were for those that have already shipped...

LR, 6 seater, black/black; 22" still saying "January" and "Delivery timing will be available soon". Same boat as everyone else. Tesla SA also has no further details available either.

I truly believe that they do monitor these boards and someone in upper management put an end to relaying any "inside info" regarding soft match/build info.. Because we all were getting inside/behind the scenes info about 2-3 weeks ago and for last two weeks everyone that has talked to SA or other workers have been told the "backend" info is the same as what we see.. Which I would like to go on the record as saying this is BS and they know more than they are leading us to believe..

Definitely. I work for a company that is discussed in various places on social media and we monitor all of it.

We are on page 361. When will we get the first Plaid VIN? The first 7 seat VIN? The first 5 seat VIN? When will I get my VIN?

The first correct guess on these four questions may win a Tesla belt buckle.
First plaid VIN April 2022, first 5 seat February 2022 first 7 seat January 2022.

I don’t know what you ordered so for your VIN I’ll guess one week longer than you hope every time you hit refresh on your reservation page.

I have a question about financing.

When Tesla checks our credit is it a hard inquiry or it is a soft inquiry?

I ordered MX in April. I don't know when I can receive it but I want to have an idea about my monthly payments and what they will approve. I saw lots of people approved for 60 months. so it will change the calculation.
