Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

I just called Fremont Tesla since my wife keeps on asking me when will she get to drive her model X. Not sure if this information helps but I'd like to share the information. The Sales rep told me that they are looking to start more production for the Model X for the next few weeks.

I don't remember what exactly the sales rep said but the conversation goes like this:

Me: Would you please let me know the ETA I will have my MX delivered?

Sales: Should be somewhere between Feb and March, we are looking to start producing more model x for the next few weeks.

Me: So far all the X delivered are 6 seats? I have 5 seats ordered.

Sales: that is correct.

Me: Will tesla produce 5 seat configuration in the next few weeks?

Sales: That is my understanding. The time you have in your tesla account is our current estimate, and we are hoping to produce in line to the time in your account.

Me: Oh okay, thanks for letting me know.

Sales: You are welcome.

Me: Thanks good, you have a great day. bye bye

The conversation is a bit longer than this, but I made it shorter and cut the useless words. My understanding is that they are going to produce more Model X and the time line they provided in our account is the schedule they are hoping for. But I find the time provided by tesla is never accurate.

What about those that ordered the 5 seater? Also, for anyone who ordered the 7 seater, even though it was cheaper to begin with, going from 7 to 6 seats seems like a big downgrade.

Only on Plaids what? They removed the 5 and 7 seat configs on the Plaids only. LR is still available so no reason for discussion on LRs.

Clarification: AFAIK five and seven seater Model X Long Range are still supposedly being produced.

“Supposedly” because almost nobody is getting deliveries.

You should see me, I can afford the MX easily. The minimum car I have driven was BMW, which I got as a gift for college acceptance when I was 18 but now I am driving the 2008 yellow Beatles, which falling apart because I am waiting for this stupidness.

Be aware that the hitch on the old Model X's is only rated for 120 lbs. A typical rack weighs 50+ lbs, so that only leaves 70 lbs for bikes and e-bikes are quite heavy. I have not heard if the refresh X has a higher weight rating or not.

Just get a lighter rack. Mine is ~20 lbs, increasing the headroom I have for bike weight.

This is starting to seem like a bad situation for 5/7 LR folks… my cheap ass is thinking of upgrading to Plaid to just get the car but it’s a $30k delta (compared to pre- price hike).

Definitely seems like a parts issue with that middle row bench seat. But, really, I know nothing…

Guy took his MX refresh from Maine (I think?) to Florida towing a small camper. Video mostly talks about the camper and his add-ons to it (Awesome btw, I want this so badly!) but he does say the new refresh 2022 MX towing chain and power hookups are “a dream” compared to his older 2020 MX (~6:50 mark). More videos to come about his trip, I subscribed so just passing along here.

Did I miss something? Tesla got rid of 5 and 7 seat options and effectively raised the prices for new orders $6500 since that's the 6 seat option price.
Did Tesla say they were upgrading those with 5 seat orders to 6 seats for free?

Seems like they are individually messaging early orders (5/7 seaters plaid) and offering a free upgrade/change to 6 seater. Nothing publicly was mentioned.

Also, re: keyfob, not sure if this is an issue others are running into, but my delivery specialist told me NOT to just pull the black tabs on the fob (to expose the battery to the contacts in the remote). She said to actually remove cover on the back of the remote, then remove the battery, and discard the plastic between the battery and the contact. Pulling on the tabs tears the arms off, but leaves a piece of plastic between the battery and contact, which is why pairing isn't working for people. I followed her instructions and both of my keys paired perfectly.
