Publicly noted in an earier posting by aTesla reprasentative - Giving a MXP customer wth a 5 or 7 seat order...3 Choices > #1 choice was a ' Free upgrade' to 6 seats' At no cost , (of course took the freebie) ....Eventhough the MXLR sill has 6-7seating choices.. While the rest of us that paid full price for the upgaded 6 seater choice. Seems us loyal customers that also waited got the shortendof he deal....Loyal customers supported Tesla also by paying for FSD for the last few years when there wasn't any.....So
I switched from 5 to 6 also back in December 😞

So, for those of us who ordered the six seater’s to begin with get to pay full price, while others essentially get the same option for $6500 less than what I’m paying? In what universe is this fair?
PLAID optional 5 - 7 seats dropped >>>>IS THIS TESLA'S OFFICIAL POLICY NOW ? WHILE OTHERS HAD TO PAY FOR THE OPTIONAL UPGRADE? on the 'PLAID'......

A Beauty! Maybe have to ship 7 seater back from Germany.......
While shocking based on the whole 6 seat conundrum, looks like this unveil/model is from China. Elon had tweeted last year that Q2 2022 was when refresh S&X would make it to China. Wonder if that is still valid or whether they got a delay mail similar to what we received in Europe?(any TMC Users from China here with MX refresh orders could comment)

Just get a lighter rack. Mine is ~20 lbs, increasing the headroom I have for bike weight.
Towing Capacity
The total trailer weight (including all cargo and additional equipment), and the trailer tongue weight, must never exceed the following:
Tires Maximum Towing Capacity* Maximum Tongue Weight**
275/45R20 110 V / Y
SAE Class III – 5000 lb (2300 kg)
SAE Class III – 500 lb (230 kg)
285/35R22 106 W
SAE Class II - 3500 lb (1588 kg)
SAE Class II – 350 lb (158 kg)
*Tesla recommends a separate braking system on trailers with a loaded weight of over 1000 lbs (450 kg). The braking system must be appropriate for the weight of the trailer. Follow the instructions provided by the trailer brake manufacturer to ensure that trailer brakes are properly installed, adjusted, and maintained.
**The tongue weight is the downward force that the weight of the trailer exerts on the hitch. It must not be less than 10% of the trailer load. Carrying a significant amount of equipment, passengers, or cargo in the tow vehicle can reduce the tongue weight it can handle, which also reduces the maximum towing capacity. Maximum towing capacity is calculated assuming the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) is not exceeded. The GVWR is printed on the Vehicle Certification Label (see Vehicle Certification Label on page 225).

found this in the manua Page 90. Does it mean the tongue weight is now 350 or 500# based on tires?

Very unfair ! ...... We paid for our upgrades.... Is this Teslas official policy?

I don’t really view this as unfair.

Tesla is not going to make 5/7 seat Plaids. People who ordered a 5/7 seater don’t have an option. Their order cannot be filled as ordered.

Others who upgraded to a LR 6 seater to get it earlier had a choice, that they made.

These are 2 totally different and separate scenarios.

I will say I don’t fall into either category and I feel individuals that were talked into LR 6 seater upgrades at a cost with a promise of a 2021 delivery got screwed (if they didn’t get their car in 2021). But not because they had to pay. Their delivery promise was not fulfilled, so it would be nice if Tesla did something for those folks. For those that paid for the 6 seat upgrade and got their car in 2021, I see no room to complain.

Yes, 500 pounds if the 20"s, 350 if the 22"s, and 120 pounds vertical weight (rack + equipment) if using a hitch mounted rack. Personally, I found it odd given that the vertical weight on the Model Y is 160 pounds (compared to the 120 of the Model X) but as others have said it's also a matter of the length outward from the mount point where the weight is borne that is a factor.

I'm mulling over an aftermarket hitch to see if there's an alternative that might work better.

I posted the FSD tweet. That is real. The price will increase to 12K from current 10K on Jan 17th. I was letting people know if they were on the fence. I have not seen an Elon tweet on 6 seat config. On the order page, it is limited to 6 seat for Plaid.
They were referencing an earlier fake tweet someone posted about seat configs not the fsd tweet.

I`m on this same opinion, if someone win on 5 ot 7 seater to 6 seater lottery like this, it`s not unfair for others, just luck for small amount of orders to win.
What was unfair was promises to get delivery in 2021 if changed order to 6 seater and Tesla not to deliver it .

ps, still not a single dragy time to be found from plaid X ...
pps. i may be one winner :) because of 5 seat order

Also, re: keyfob, not sure if this is an issue others are running into, but my delivery specialist told me NOT to just pull the black tabs on the fob (to expose the battery to the contacts in the remote). She said to actually remove cover on the back of the remote, then remove the battery, and discard the plastic between the battery and the contact. Pulling on the tabs tears the arms off, but leaves a piece of plastic between the battery and contact, which is why pairing isn't working for people. I followed her instructions and both of my keys paired perfectly.
So I need to take some sort of tiny screwdriver with me when I pick up the car? Phillips or straight? Seems like the Service Center should do this..what else do those sales reps have to do? What’s a ”delivery specialist” do? Hand you a key fob that isn’t working and say, “good luck, thanks for $115K?” You know, we aren’t all tech savvy handy men. We include old, dull, people who try hard but just can’t seem to make technology work. BTW, thanks for the tip on this DYI project. I’ll add it to the hard copy folder I keep for when I finally, eventually get my car.

With the recently spotted S in Taiwan and alleged unvailing event, is it possible they’re shipping S/X globally early in Q1? I know that used to be the strategy.

Might explain some light VIN activity early in 2022?
For a company trying to maximize profits, not sure that’s a good idea with so many unfulfilled orders close by.

But they gotta keep the deposit money flowing in worldwide 😃

If they just don’t ship outside NA or even outside US, the free money they get will stop since people will nit be interested in putting down the deposit not knowing when they may get the car.

j/k we have no idea what/if the strategy is.
