Register used car with Tesla from private party

I’m buying a 2015 Model S 90D from my daughter’s mother in law and looking thru Tesla account but I only see adding a car purchased from 3rd party. What happened to private party, where I can register?

I think third party and private party are the same thing in this case. It just means you’re buying the car from someone other than Tesla. I haven’t done this myself, but it’s my understanding that you’ll need to wait until after the sale is completed to provide the necessary documentation to Tesla.

Me too. A private sale is when you buy from the owner directly. Confusing!

The current owner can give you app(Car) access today while you wait for the ownership transfer.
