Removing rear chrome piece on a model S

If you are referring to the applique on the rear lift gate, start by using nylon fishing line or dental floss to cut through the double sided 'foam tape' where the applique overlaps the tali lights. Then use a nylon pry tool, preferable one with a "U" cutout on the prying end, and carefully pry the applique off. The applique comes molded with four (maybe more) plastic pins that have to be separated from the retainers on the lift gate. It helps to have a helper support one end of the applique. FYI, Tesla service will just replace this part, as it tends to break fairly easily and it takes too much time to clean off the double sided tape to make the part re-usable. Also, take a picture of the foamy stuff left on the tail light after the applique is removed. There are (at least) two styles of double sided 'foamy tape' (with two different part numbers) available from Tesla.

Even better, dial the heat gun to 190F and it will peel off like new refrigerator wrapper (4yo Korean POS died for good, just got a GE made in KY), this is how I debadge our cars.

Anyone care to post a pic after the deed?
