Replace TPMS sensors yourself

I bought the VDO sensors. That is the OEM brand used by Tesla since mid 2014. Didn’t have to do anything special - go into the service menu and tell it to reset the TPMS, then start driving. Mine register in 2 minutes or so.

they used to be $48 or so from Rock Auto. Haven’t checked pricing recently.

i know other people have used the third party sensors with mixed results.

If buying new TPMS sensors for snow tires what has to be done to program them to get them to sync up with the car? Do they just connect automatically when driving?

I've been considering these on Amazon.
Here are two others I found from another website:
Tesla Model S TPMS sensor | VDO 433MHz | TPMSDirect
Tesla Model S TPMS sensor | VDO 433MHz | TPMSDirect
Did you buy a set? Which OEM? Any problems?

When buying our snow tires at Discount Tire I told them I was planning to buy the TPMS on Amazon since they're so much cheaper than what they wanted to sell me the TPMS for. They said they would match Amazon's price so as to not deal with the inconvenience of installing 3rd party TPMS. With their TPMS they could have the tires mounted & balanced on our new rims with TPMS installed before we arrived so upon arrival at the store it was really quick to just swap out the wheels. With our own TPMS it would've taken longer.
