Road tripping and charging to 100%

Besides, you will charge faster the lower your SoC is.
This point comes up time-to-time, but it completely irrelevant.

If you need to get to 70% to hit the next charger (as the OP stated), will things being equal, you will always leave faster if you arrive at a higher SOC.

In the OPs example -- If you arrive at 15%, sure you'll charge "faster" until you get to 25%, but from 25% to 70% it's the same charge rate. So essentially you're adding charging time getting from 15% to 25%.

As mentioned above, it’s the time it sits at 100% charge that is important. I occasionally charge to 100% for trips but I set up the charging so it reaches 100% as I’m ready to leave in the morning. That allows me the 100% charge but minimizes the detrimental effect on the battery pack.
