Russia/Ukraine conflict

As I understand it, Erdoğan has 15 days to sign the papers from the time of the vote in the Turkish parliament.

From the moment Erdoğan signed the the Papers for Finland's accession it allegedly took Türkiye ~3 days to hand the Finnish accession papers over to a US representative.

So we will know in a little more than 14 days if Erdoğan will try and drag this out further or not. Also guessing that it is going to take Türkiye more than 3 days to hand over the signed papers to a US representative.

And it will of course be interesting to see what Orbán/Hungary does or does not do in the meantime.

This allegedly caused Putler the Russian Dictator to loose an additional 63 serfs.

As always, 2 sides to this story already emerging.
Ukraine says it was full of S-300 missiles.
Russia says it was full of Ukrainian POWs.
That war fog is getting denser every day.

BBC tends to lead with misinformation these days.
Why report Russian lies as though they are facts?
Every 'update' so far quotes only Russian sources.
'BBC Verify' isn't verifying much. Just repeating Russian lies with a disclaimer they can't verify it.

Exactly. And the majority of prisoner exchanges apparently happens across the border near Rostov-on-Don – so not near Belgorod...

Just more of the same. More meatbags for the meat grinder. This is about the use of untrained, poorly armed draftees used in meatwaves in late 2022 to try to stop the AFU advance iinto the Kharkiv Oblast.

'Thrown Into Hell' – Relatives of Russian Soldiers Describe Loved Ones Being Sent to 'Svatovo Slaughter'

Exclusive interviews last year with two Russian prisoners of war conducted by Kyiv Post appear to confirmed reports that parts of the Russian army are poorly provisioned, badly motivated and generally treated as cannon fodder.

And in the ongoing assault on Avdiivka, Russia has launched wave after wave of troops at Ukrainian positions, some in obsolete 70-year-old vehicles that provide next to no protection on a modern battlefield.

BBC just published this:

"Ukraine urges against spreading of 'unverified information'
As we've been reporting, Russia says that the plane which crashed in Belgorod region was carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war.
We have now had a statement from the Coordination HQ on Treatment of the Prisoners of War (POWs), which is a Ukrainian government body.
The statement urges the "mass media and citizens to refrain from spreading unverified information," and adds it is collecting more information.
"We emphasise that the enemy is actively carrying out special information operations directed against Ukraine," the statement says."

The BBC needs to stop reporting what Russia says and sit on the fence a bit longer so they can verify what happened and then report the facts.
This keeps happening and it's not just the BBC, but their quality of reporting has gone downhill. Most of the time, they're not my first choice for factual reporting.

Ruzzia probably doesn't lie all the time, just almost all the time.

They also routinely report Hamas’ claims as gospel.

Some nice debunking of the LIES from Putler the Russian Dictator.

Their is a information that board number of the fallen IL-76MD is RA-78830.

Before that, he was spotted over Armenia on January 23, 2024 and flew towards Iran, where he disappeared.

It flew through Egypt (fly over it), before that through the Red Sea and Iran. He disappeared from the radar near Syria, and then flew to Belgorod.

He made his last takeoff from Belgorod. It was flying towards the central part of the Russia (north-eastern flight direction), but was shot down near the settlement of Yablunovo.

So far, there are still no signs that there could be any prisoners there.

It seems like a strange choice to move POWs by air since planes in good shape are increasingly becoming rare in Russia.

I came across this video on Kaliningrad and how it's importance to Russia has changed.

Russia used to promise that trying to get NATO troops into the Baltics if they attacked would be very expensive in lives and material. Finland's joining NATO changes that calculus. Sweden's will change it even more.
This is amazing! I had no idea - what a HUGE win for NATO and Ukraine. De-Russification of Kaliningrad must be accelerated by all means, while retaining enough Russian interests there to avoid Russia obliterating it in retreat.

If it decides to leave Russia the Russian military would have to pull out rather quickly. Economically it would be smartest for the population of Kaliningrad to leave Russia and claim the historical ownership. Before 1945 the oblast was East Prussia, a province of Germany. No ethnic Germans live there now, the Germans of East Prussia were forced to move to modern day Germany when the Soviets took it. But a return to Germany would be economically a boost for the oblast. It's rather small to be an independent country, only about 500K people, though Luxembourg is only a little larger population.
