It was last fall when the prices for various options were changing.Did the folks you know fall in this category? Order before 3/1, and delivery after 3/1? I had exchanged text messages with my delivery specialist many times and was told I can’t get the new price but would get free FSD as I have EAP in my order. But somehow can’t get them to put free FSD in the contract
This. Do not accept delivery until repriced. Why not deny delivery, at that point they will let you order another car for the new price. Just have to wait another 4 weeks. I’m also in Orlando, have ordered 3 other cars though them, no issues. Bottom line don’t give in, or don’t take delivery. They want you to buy the car to make 1st quarter delivery. They will work with you.
I think your old $67k price might have included the destination charge? My order is almost the same as yours except I got blue paint which costs an additional $1.5k. And the order is $67.4k before destination charge.Hi everyone, OP here. Lots of new posts, so instead of replying directly per each post like I was, I’ll try to answer to everything I read (let me know if I missed something).
I was told by HQ refusing delivery would cause me to lose my deposit, so I waited to speak with the local service center today.
I ordered...
Model 3 Performance
Black Paint
Black Leather
Enhanced Auto Pilot
$67k
With the new pricing, this setup would cost only $61k. A new option that wasn’t available when I ordered wwas full self driving at $5k extra, which would put it at $66k.
The local “salesman” said as someone mentioned here before will now upgrade EAP orders to FSD ($5k value) and non-EAP orders to EAP ($3k value). He sent me a picture of the email he received from Tesla stating this.
Since I’m buying with a loan and I’m already frusterated from waiting since Feb 4 to have a Tesla and the hassles and costs of refusing delivery and having to fight for my deposit or accepting the loan, getting insurance only to return it within 24 hours and then fight to get my money back and then go through the whole process again... I decided to just take their offer, I’ll get the car as is but with the free FSD valued at $5k for new orders. That’s only a $1k difference, which is easier to swallow.
When I went to accept my Tesla loan it stated a 2018 Model 3. I contacted my local salesman and told him as I made it very clear I want a 2019 only. Less than an hour later or so it was changed to a 2019 vin.
Anyways, I know this still leaves the main questions up in there such as is your deposit gone if you refuse delivery or what’s the actual loss (if any) taking delivery and then returning it. However, with all this being said I can’t wait for my Tesla to come. I hope these are just growing pains. I already placed a deposit to have it wrapped in Gloss Lemon Sting.
Thank you again everyone!
Yea, with free FSD, I think we are good. Thanks guys! Yeah it's not bad anymore. I think it's just growing pains since Tesla is a new company for the mass market. I hope you are all enjoying your cars! I can't wait to get mine

I’m still waiting for mine! Haven’t even gotten my VIN yet.
Would you mind sharing that picture of an email you were sent? For the free FSD upgrade. Thanks.
I’m just catching up on this thread but have a few thoughts based on the posts:
1) There is a disconnect between the ability to get a full refund for any reason and the loss of a deposit for a cancellation. Those two things simply don’t make sense and Tesla needs to fix them.
2) If your salesperson told you to expect the lower pricing you need to hold him to it, period. Don’t accept any other offer.
3) If they matched you to a 2018 model they didn’t even build the car for you. It was an inventory model they tried to stick you with. You have every right to reject it and demand a refund.
They matched me up to an MR inventory model this week and when I went to pick it up the panel gaps were way out of spec so I refused delivery. They were more than happy to refund my deposit, no strings attached.
If you don’t like the answer you get from one person at Tesla, try another person. I find you get a different answer almost every time you ask a question, so keep asking until you get an answer you like.
Be firm, don’t let them take advantage of you.
Tesla may take the car back per their return policy but the state of California will never return close to $5,000 in state tax and license fees. Returning the car after delivery would never work out for me.
We ordered a Standard Range X but the price dropped $8000. The price for the Long Range is exactly the same as what it would've been for the Standard Range X so we haven't bothered calling. Shortly after the price change, the car began to show up as Long Range except for on the View Spec link where it shows as Performance.I just spoke with Order Support specialist "Josh" at the order support call center in Las Vegas. He stated that everyone who wants a lower price has to cancel the order and place a new order. If you log into your Tesla account and look at your order agreement, that is the number they expect you to pay.
He stated that their order system does not allow them to adjust the price. He also stated that they can not "transfer" your deposit from one vehicle to another. He said they are making customers order a new vehicle (create a new reservation) and then provide the delivery manager with this new reservation number in order to get the refund approved and processed. He claimed a lot of people were cancelling and saying they would "reorder" but never did. It is definitely a circus.
I'm in the same boat. Ordered with EAP on 1/31. Took delivery on 3/26. I called Tesla delivery specialist and service center at the HQ when the new pricing came out on 3/1. Both promised I'd get free FSD upgrade as I ordered EAP before 3/1 and no VIN has been assigned. So at that point, I had an option to cancel and reorder the same config but with FSD for the same price as my initial order. As I was promised free FSD upgrade, I decided to keep the existing order. When I took the delivery on 3/26, the MVPA still showed EAP and I just tried to double check about the FSD upgrade. This time there was a different delivery rep and he just acted as if he didn't know anything about the FSD upgrade.Did the folks you know fall in this category? Has your car been delivered? Did they give you the free FSD upgrade? If it's not been delivered yet, I suggest you to please clarify this BEFORE taking the delivery as they seem to change the words.
